RPi Eng Ltd V8 supplier

It was with great please to deal with the above company, especially as its my first venture into the world of V8's. apart from my recent purchase of a pair s/s manifolds from John 'U can't get hold of' Eales.

I recently bought a Carbon plenum chamber, magnecor leads and power amp from RPi, however, after fitting the leads the left bank were catching on the bonnet as the connection into the distributor were not 'L' shaped connectors (as  the r/h bank) so it meant the leads were coming straight up and out of the distributor cap, catching the bonnet plus the HT lead was 3" short.

To compound that, the power amp (replacement for the standard distibutor power amp.gives tons better spark) was also short by around 7". I dropped a quick email to Chris Cane, (owner) and he arranged to have the said items collected and spec'd correctly for my car.

I now have the correct leads and amp.No questions asked no hassle just honest to good 'bending over backwards to help' customer service attitude. The rest of the staff,Jane,Lisa and Paul who I'd dealt with before  the purchase were cheery and happy to help. As you will agree  all part of  a positive feel to purchasing

I just thought I'd share my thoughts. Its reasonably rare for such 'no quibble' service. I know of only 1 other company that offer excellent service and thats Plays-kool Motorsport, yes they are local but that doesn't normally mean great service because u live local.

Anyway, I was well impressed. I think they're based in the 'Swamp' (Norfolk) I was gonna drive down there but apprently the A14 stops on the otherside of Lincolnshire and its peat-bog and mud tracks for the rest of the journey :p bit like the Midlands, sorry East Wales :p

What about the rest of the V8 mob have you used them? what sort of service did u get?

Buzz

That's just the story we peddle to Yorkshiremen to keep the donkey population safe!

Dad got plenty of bits from RPI and Real Steel when we were building the V8 for his TR7.

Both companies were excellent to deal with, offering information about what would be suitable as well as the parts themselves.

The Westfield V8 world seems to be split over RPi's technical ability, but in my experience you can't fault them. I have always found them to be very helpful and if you can get in touch with Chris (he is always busy), then he will talk to you for hours about stuff.

Some people describe RPi as "cowboys" and compare them a bit to the Max Power brigade i.e. run our Magnacor leads and get an increase of 3000 BHP and a billion extra tourque, although I think this is a bit unfair. In fact their Power Amp has been dyno'd by the likes of John Eales and he has found it does improve BHP in line with their claims.

Buzz - did you get your amp working in the end ? I can take a load more piccies this weekend if you need em.

Yep already use the message board

I didn't buy the leads and amp for the sake of increase in power etc I'm too long in the tooth for that and built more engines than I care to remember (no V8's tho but they look pretty straight forward)I generally buy because I no what works. Magnecors are expensive but they don't break down and will last the life time of the engine.

Power amp wise I replaced the orginal just for more reliabilty and a stronger spark even tho' my engine and bits have only done 6000 miles from the factory  its a production engine so compromise/cost comes under the spot light.

The engine runs a lot smoother and picks up slightly better.

Eales manifolds have made a difference altho' nosier (TVR esque) tho' mid-range is a lot better shame Eales service isn't. I'm still waiting for reply to an email I sent him over 9 days ago plus a couple of messages. So  when I come to order the dry sump kit It will be from JDE. as they seem to know how to use telephony communication!
