Finally got a chance to clear the garage again and get the first coat down on the floor this evening. Patchy at the moment but should turn out alright after a couple more coats. Just finished now, and have to be up at 4am to get into work 🤪😴😴 Brilliant, what a difference a coat of paint makes. Much more brighter and welcoming. Well done 👏 1 Quote
Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somerset Posted September 12 Author Posted September 12 Been away this week but that has given the floor five days to harden. Wanted to get the car tucked away as the nights are getting colder and damper. It seems to have coped with being outside though, started first time tonight. It’s going to stop feeling as spacious unfortunately as I’ve got racking to go down the middle and the Carcoon to inflate. Still, much better than before finally. I’m going to paint my tool boards white to keep the brightness levels up 👍. 3 Quote

Yet! 🤪 Unfortunately there are also a lot of boxes out in the garden too so I need to build some more racking which will go down the centre of the garage. I’ve got four more sections like the one at the back to build. That will hopefully take everything outside and on the bench. I wish I could keep it feeling so open but it can’t happen unfortunately. I’m just enjoying the space at the moment. Quote
Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somerset Posted September 14 Author Posted September 14 Racking build nearly there, 3.5 out of 5 racks built now. It’s pretty fiddly to assemble but needs no tools and seems pretty strong once assembled. I need to adjust the spacing to make sure I’ve got enough room to work around the car. I have a cunning plan to suspend the Carcoon bubble on wires with pulleys so I can easily shift it out of the way, will see if I can make it work. Once racking is sorted and bolted together, I’ve got a few jobs left to do: - Paint the tool boards and put them back up - Make a small bench behind the car - Sort power and lighting out - Sort the Carcoon pulleys out - Load up the racking! 3 Quote

Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somerset Posted September 16 Author Posted September 16 Got up a bit earlier and finished off the final racks this morning. They look great! Just need to bolt them together now to keep them lined up and rigid before getting them filled. I’ve left a nice little gap at the back so I can access both sides of the garage easily. 2 Quote
Matt_S Posted September 16 Posted September 16 Good work Stu. Are you gunna re-position your lights? Couple of nice LED battens 👌🏼 1 Quote

I fitted some V-Tac 757 VT-8-80 6ft battens that have a 8600lm output, bought from CPC Farnell, but they don’t seem to stock them anymore. Ive found this site that do them though 👍🏼 https://www.lighting-direct.co.uk/v-tac-80w-cool-white-led-batten-1820mm.html?utm_source=shopping_feed&utm_medium=organic&srsltid=AfmBOorDKiVP4SzgLUK0uIKWDMisz49ruP3R2JFjuRubAsYg42zKKsirhsI 1 Quote
SteveB21 Posted September 16 Posted September 16 Definitely stick some LED battens up - I fitted some from Screwfix a couple of years ago. Night & day compared to fluorescent tubes. 2 Quote

Night & day compared to fluorescent tubes. Yeah, I've got screwfix ones too. Very bright and great for detailing. I really liked the way you wired them up, made it a doddle to link them together. I did a bit of research and looked at plenty of ebay ones, but you just don't know what you're getting. Another vote for the screwfix ones 👍 2 Quote
evosteve Posted September 16 Posted September 16 You should be able to fit led's to your fittings and save having to buy the whole thing. 1 Quote
Craigieboy Posted September 16 Posted September 16 By the time the garage is finished, you'll need to sell the Westy to pay for it! 😂 1 Quote
