Yep, wasn’t going to risk that. Will have proper disposal paperwork so all is good.

 

A delayed start today but have made some progress. We replaced or strengthened more of the beams today as it made sense while the roof was off.
 

Fiddly getting the first sheets aligned, and also doing the clear panels but should get faster tomorrow. Hopefully will be a little cooler too. Have made progress sorting out boxes before they go back in too, so all good. Want to get all my tools sorted in the process.

Good progress today. We got a bit delayed by confusion over whether the boards were ‘handed’ or not. At one stage, to be more efficient,  we decided to cut the corners off three boards at once and just turn one of them round. Big mistake! It turns out that they do need to be run in the same direction otherwise the corrugations (is that a word?) don’t quite match up. This cost us a fair bit of time phaffing around trying to work out what was going wrong and having to turn heavy boards around whilst up on the roof.

 

Anyway, I reckon we are 80% done now. Just one run with a clear panel in it, and then two solid runs to finish. We will need to cut the last two runs down to fit the width but have a good angle grinder so that shouldn’t take long and at least they will be lighter to lift up. It is heavy going in this heat with no shade up there to speak of. We are trying to do things diligently, putting mastic across the joints and ensuring the clear panels are fixed correctly. Hopefully it won’t leak!

 

Pleased with how it looks though and we should be all done tomorrow including sorting the edge boards and guttering.

Winston is keen to be back in his new home! Might have to be temporary for a while until the walls and floor are done.

Do you mean that the boards have an up and a downside?

 

Used them on previous sheds before - always wondered if they do - always answered my question with a shrug + always just accepted the small mismatch in the corrugations.

 

So, how can you tell which side is up? I mean before make a terminal decision.

Well they definitely have a side that faces upwards which is smoother, the underside is a little rougher. What I was surprised about was the ‘corrugations’ didn’t seem to match if they weren’t running in the same direction. The spacing seemed slightly different so they didn’t sit properly over one another. Switching the board around solved the issue completely.

Yeah I used metal profile sheeting and the is a leading edge and a trailing edge.

Finished the main job at about 12, all panels fixed in place. Had to cut four panels down for the last part so it worked well at the end wall, looks good. Just the finishing fascia boards and guttering to do now 👍

 

Apologies to anyone with OCD for the uneven window spacing, it was just how it fell in terms of the internal wall and the width of the panels. We tried to keep them over each garage, works ok from inside.

Front fascia boards fitted. Rear boards done too, just the guttering to do once the scaffolding is removed. We’ve decided to finish the sides in the same way as the front but need to order another four boards for that and I’ll have to pick them up from Bridgewater next week.

 

Done for the day. Need to give the garage a good sweep out, then perhaps I will whitewash the walls at some point this weekend. Floor paint should be available later in the week so perhaps that’s a job for next weekend! I’ll make a start on building my shelving tomorrow too.

 

Next project, when we’ve recovered is to paint the garage doors!

Going to be great when's it all finished and you can stand back and admire. Definitely the time of year to paint the floor, should hopefully dry in a couple of days.

Yes, fortunately ours are fine, just look awful!

I normally paint mine every year, but the Mx5 rolled off the ramps and damaged the frame on one. Been on borrowed time for years, just prefer to spend my money on stuff I actually want.
