Morning all, I’m a new member and only joined on Thursday. After dreaming of owning a “7” for nearly 20 years the wife has paid a deposit at Toybox for my upcoming 50th ! On a beautiful looking Westfield!! We are due back down to pay the balance next week.

however I would like some advice on insurance as I am a little concerned, I have tried a plan insurance thatcham after reading the forum but they refused to insure me based on having no previous experience with this type of car, obviously everyone was in the same boat at some point !

I think this is more common than it used to be. I got grilled by REIS when getting quotes for my Exige, but they accepted my previous “lightweight RWD” experience in the Westy.

As for insurers, there’s AiB, Adrian Flux, Footman James to try. Most offer club discounts too.

I use Adrian Flux and there was no drama.

However, wasn't there something about having to contact a specific a-plan office for westies?

I will try Adrian Flux, toybox told me to try them to be honest.

That’s thatcham

I have had cover from Flux, AiB and A-Plan (Howdens). All were good to deal with and all did multi vehicle policies.

Yeah I was asked aswell in June and wasn't expecting it. I just rhymed off a few previous cars and all was good.

Don't let it get to you, I'm sure you'll have it sorted soon 👍

Speak to Carlie at the Thatcham branch. She generally can sort things for pretty much anyone so mates tell me. I'm currently with AIB and have never been asked any awkward questions

@Carlie APlan to the forum please!

She will need to change her forum handle now too I guess!

@Cookie24 you could try Lancaster insurance to.

I had to demonstrate my previous high power car driving experience to A-Plan (now Howdens) when I took out my policy last year.

Good luck.
