Ok so how do you fit the front half of the tonneau?

I have a lockable boot and a full tonneau to cover front and boot. I only really need to cover front. Anybody "chopped" one in half? Pics of please :t-up:

I guess in this case, you don't have a full tonneau.

and if you do, I'll bet the fastening points are the same, i.e. just remove the rear half and mounted the full in the same place.

Isn't that what you were after knowing? Or did I misunderstand?

My full tonneau covers the lockable boot box too. It's a tight fit, worse now that the tonneau was allowed to get pretty wet. Think it just needs warming up now so it can stretch again.

If you have a lockable lid, you don't need a boot cover...

WHAT? Now I *know* you're takin' the p***......   :0  :0  :p  :p

I don't need a cover just for the boot (having a lockable boot). However, when I want to cover the passenger cabin, then the full tonneau I use also happens to extend over the boot area. Also, in reality the lockable lid isn't all that waterproof...

My answer was in response to the question asking whether a full tonneau would fit over the lockable boot lid.

Picky picky picky...

i use a full tonneau, which i then fold back on itself and put the bit im not using into the boot and popper that down.  makes carrying a tonneau easy and gives me a usuable boot box.

you can sort of see what i mean in this photo

clean_car.sized.jpg

where if i undid the popper at the front of the boot box the rest of the tonneau would be revealed.

Talk about being confussed

I have a full cover ok?

I have a lockable boot box ok?

The full tonneau is a pain to fit ok?

Heres the difficult bit  Has anyone  cut  the back bit  off?

to make it easier to fit to front only?

Does anyone make a front half only?

Does anyone make one A La Elise?

Understanda???????????????

Umm...

I think it probably just needs stretching. Recommended method is to leave it an airing cupboard over night, then fit it to the car.

I gues you might need to do this a couple of times to get it fully stretched.

Mine certainly fits a lot easier on a hot day, so I think I'm gonna have to try this soon.

I guess you'll have to keep  :bangshead:  :bangshead:  :bangshead:

or maybe you could be the first to try it  :D  :D

If you are going to give it a go ... fit the poppers where you think they need to go (on the bootbox and tonneau) before chopping the boot end off. If doesn't work, you'll only have a couple of holes to patch rather than a completely useless tonneau  :p  :p

Alternatively you could use velcro as the rear fastner  ???

Just a thought

Thanks for all your comments/suggestions :t-up:

I have tried to put in airing cupboard but can't get the car up the stairs :D

Does it shrink again when it gets cold?

I am doing coast to coast and car will be parked outside for 4 nights. That's why I need to sort tonneau out.

I have spoken to Jill Judd today about having a half tonneau made in water resistant nylon. She is getting back to me.

I will let you know the outcome ;)

I think it was getting wet that did it to mine...

I'm sure it'll be fine over a few days.

I think Andy, it's expansion and contraction that does that.   Simple fizziks...

Go to any decent vehicle trimmers, and they will make whatever you want them to.

I thought about a split tonneau, whith an additional zip, so you could completely remove the front end leaving what is basically a boot lid.

In the end though, my roll bar meant it was as easy to get rid of the boot box altogether.

I'll see you in St Bees Dennis
