Is the gear knob threaded inside?, if so what gearbox was it on, if that had its standard stick used that is. After a knob for a type 9 now myself. , the Westys went missing, don't know where too ! ( cough cough)

It has a metal sleeve that screws onto the shaft which the knob then slides over and is fixed in place with an allen bolt from the top.

The inside of the knob is smooth.

It had been removed from my type 9.

I have a type 9 box but the gearstick doesn't have a thread, in fact it's not even exactly round. My Westfield alloy knob just will not stay tightly done up. One of the 3 grub screws just keeps coming loose. I have to tighten it every other trip. It gets a bit annoying after a while.

Try using some blue threadlock, it won't come loose again 👍

I did. It didn't help, still came loose. Am thinking of grinding the point off the grub screws to maybe give more purchase. They are so small that an Allen key gets easily rounded off if torqued up too much. I bought a lovely replacement knob but it needs the gearstick to be threaded and mine isn't.
