wee rambo Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 Hiya Does anyone know any good methods of imobilizing their westi. I have to leave mine at a mates empy house in a garage that doent lock for two weeks. Im going to remove the rotary arm and a wheel or two, any other ideas?? Quote
Blatman Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 Leave it in gear and remove the gear lever, then disconnect the clutch cable..... Put a padlock and chain or a U-lock through one (or both) of the front wheels... Quote
westy666 Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 I have to leave mine at a mates empy house in a garage that doent lock for two weeks wheres that then? ya can only go so far - if they want it bad theyll have it watever ... how bout put the rear up on axle stands & take the wheels & battery home? if anything does happen to it best not mention the unlocked garage part to ya insurance company tho Quote
Nick.Petty Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 Agreed, if they really want it they'll have it - it only takes someone to see the car going in there and tip off some dodgy geezers ... Have you no other option or maybe is there someway you can put a gob off great padlock on the door? I spose having said that they are more likely to go for something that has got the Westfield padded race seats .... Quote
wee rambo Posted March 29, 2004 Author Posted March 29, 2004 Your padded seats again...hehe you've really got a thing for them. There isnt really any other option as i have it at uni with me in the midlands and its the easter break so have to go home for the hoildays. Im trying to find if there is anyone else still around that has a garage but most ppl have already gone home. Quote
Nick.Petty Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 Ok, what about this ... Put the Westy in the garage. Close the door. Hire a skip from a local Company for the Easter break. Get the skip loader lorry driver to back it right up against the garage door, before releasing said skip on to the driveway, hence forming an irremoveable barrier, unless the thieves also have a skip loader lorry handy with which to remove said skip... Just thinking laterally In all seriousness what ever you do make sure the insurance company know that it is not being stored in the usual place otherwise if it does go walkies they will use this as a reason not to pay out. Why not drive it home anyways? Nicko. Quote
wee rambo Posted March 30, 2004 Author Posted March 30, 2004 The skip is an exilent idea!! I will definitly look into it. Wish i could take it home but i live 300 miles away and am on limited milage, plus wouldnt fit all my junk in it!! heheh Cheers guys, just keep my fingers crossed that its still there when i return Quote
