vasi
Hi folks, I have a (barely started) Mazda 1.8 SDV full kit in red, plus a stripped donor with documentation that I am looking to sell. I'm not sure whether it would be better to split it or sell all the parts together. In fact I wouldn't know how to put a value on either. This was purchased 2015 and has been stored in garages since. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated Thank you Jim
Chris Larner
More MK sportscars use the MX5 as a doner vehicle so maybe worth posting it on their For sale Facebook page. Hope that is some help.
Mark (smokey mow)
Did you just buy the starter kit from Westfield or also the completion package? Personally I’d try to sell together in the first instance. If priced sensibly it should sell as the current new price from Westfield is close to twice what you would have paid in 2015. So there’s a good chance you could make most of your money back.
vasi
Hi Mark, Yes it's the starter kit + completion + stripped donor. I'll take your advice, get some photos and list it all as one. Thank you Jim

Thank you Jim As a complete kit with all the donor parts and basically everything you need to build a complete car I would guesstimate a value of around 75% of what you could buy a fully built and IVA’d SDV for. Out of the box unmodified SDV’s built to the manual are in the region of £7-£10k depending on the spec and quality of build.
Dommo
I think keep it together, certainly the Westfield bits. If you end up selling say... the wishbones individually, your target market becomes only Mazda SDVs, and only those that need new wishbones for whatever reason. Where as currently, your target market it anyone looking to build a seven style kit car in an easy way. 1
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Yeah, while splitting may seem appealing at first, as you start seeing some turn over of your parts, it can very quickly back you into a corner, leaving you with potentially valuable bits, that no one wants on their own, as they’re just to Westfield Mazda SDV specific. My general rule of thumb, when deciding which way to go, is the closer the car, (or collection of parts to build one) is to standard Westfield factory, with or without basic factory options. Then sell as one if at all possible. Its only when you’ve heavily customised a car with loads of expensive upgrades, that you’ve sourced outside of the Westfield factory, that it becomes more worthwhile splitting, as few of those upgrades really fetch what their worth on their own, as part of a complete car.
