jeff oakley
I remember when I got my first car, a Cortina MK2, I went to the petrol station and said "fill it up or a pounds worth whichever comes first" now filling up my Volvo when the lights come on it is almost £100.
Stuart
I can remember filling my Lambretta with petrol at 6s 8d (33p) per gallon & I think that included the 2-stroke oil as well....
Richard (OldStager)
I recall, as a kid, going on holiday with my Grandparents, and during the trip Grandad needed fuel, my Gran was really shocked at the prices in Cornwall - 50p a gallon, she was so angry, lol... it was her topic of conversation for a whole week...

Can remember those days well. Had a summer job as petrol pump attendant. Remember a guy coming in with about 50off 1 gallon cans to fill up @ 35p a Gallon. Don't think I worried much about filling my motorbike up at that. Diesel was only for lorries 😉

dvd8n
When I was a teenager and I used to borrow my dad's car I always put a pound's worth of petrol in it. That worked out at about a gallon to replace what I'd used and a gallon as a thank you. D
