I am saddened to be reporting that Mathew Gilmour, owner of Procomp Motorsport, sadly passed away last week. He had been suffering with poor health for a while and eventually passed away as a result. For those that didnt know of Procomp, Matt and his late father Ivan, were renowned and respected Westfield and kit car in general preparation specialists. They helped me immensely with my Speed Series winning Westfield whilst I owned it. RIP Matt

Yes, a sad loss to the car community and so unfair to be taken so early!

So sad to hear this, John. He and his Dad sorted out the suspension on my old (factory built) car about the time I started in the Speed Series.

I only spoke to him 3 weeks ago about setting my car up for me, he said he’d suffered multiple strokes caused by his Covid vaccination(s) and that he was hopeful of getting back to work at some point soon.

He was however good enough to talk me through my ideal setup even though he couldn’t help.

How very very sad. 😔

It really is sad news .

I saw matt about a month ago when I went to collect something from him and even though he wasn't really up to having visitors he said come around Ash i will sort you out and we had a really good chat and in true matt fashion he'd got some stories and we had a good laugh I was only popping in for 5 minutes and an hour and a half later I was still there .

I think Matt and his dad Ivan were Genuine nice people and they had a great understanding of seven style cars

Rest easy Matt another one gone far to early but atleast your suffering is over now  :westy::silver-westy:🏁

Such sad news about Matt, although it has been on the cards for a while.

Ivan and Matt serviced and MOT'd my car for over 30 years, and were fantastic mechanics -- nothing was too much trouble. When I bought a 3-year-old Astra in 1998, Ivan road tested it for me -- and they kept it running for the next 18 years, once tracking down a hard-to-get part in a local scrap yard.

Although I had no connection with the racing side of things, it was always fascinating to see the latest kit car being built out in the workshop.

Matt's first stroke was a real shock in someone so young, and it must have been so frustrating that they couldn't seem to be able to prevent further ones from happening, even with medication.  I last saw him about a month ago, and we had a long chat about various things, but it was clear that his health was deteriorating.

You will be missed, Matt.

So sorry to hear about Matt. He really made a difference for so many. His passion for kit cars and dedication to his work was evident.
