I had the same problem with Flux but................... not only did they sort out the extras problem I get breakdown cover and it was cheaper than last year because they matched another quote. Oh and I had a prang which did not affect the premium as well. Thats less than 200 quid fully comp 2 drivers with breakdown for a V8 so I cant complain.  ;)  ;)

Interesting  threads here on insurance - is it worth putting a "matrix" together some time as obviously there are a number of factors that are going to affect premiums (like age, postcode, miles, value) - I often think insurance companies have a "random quote generator" !!

Just for a larfff - has anyone ever asked their day car insurance company for a quote ?? (I was going to ask Direct Line)

I though HHH had or were going under since Norwich Union pulled out.

Anyone ever remember Cloverleaf ?? - were infamous for insuring anything and anyone provided you never wanted to make a claim !!

We are also massively interested in a company that does 'regular' limited miles along with built-in trackday cover.  Nothing wrong with edger lawson/comp car insurance - its just that if you do 10 trackdays a year with 12K of cover per trackday you are looking at a hefty bill.

Anyone ? (I think gregh has the same question too)

I think (along with Nick M at least) that keeping your road and track insurance seperate is a very good idea. Do you really want a track claim as a declarable item on the insurance policies for all your road cars? I don't think so.......  ???

I must be one of the lucky ones!

Im insured with Adrian Flux (well NIG actually), and got a very good deal from them - 1700 Xflow comprehensive cover plus breakdown, and legal for £240.

Having just made a £2.5k claim with them too, they were very helpful, and i honestly cannot fault them - though the claim is obviously dealt with by the insurance company (NIG) and not the broker (flux)

From the above posts, am i right in believing that they automatically take the renewal cost from the credit card that you used to pay for the original policy??

Mine's up for renewal in a couple of weeks, and i need to be sure

They can't do that, what they do is send the renewal showing all the additions and asking for the dosh, you then phone and say you don't want the extras and they send you a fresh quote. I am with N I G  through Flux, had a prang last year and no hike on the policy this year so I am well pleased.

Hill House Hammond are still on the go, you need to ring there specialist car department on 01733 310899, or you get someone in India saying they don't do Westfields.

I've got 6000 miles a year, on an 1800 zetec, value about 11K, for £258, which goes down to £244 for only 4500 miles.

Is this about the same ball park others are getting ?

Footman James just quoted me £387, and thats deffinately not quoting me happy.

Come on Mr Stanton, surely you could regulate this whole buisness by getting some deal together with a single company, and as someone has suggested, get a shedule of rates proposed.  And no, I don't want the job thank you !!!!

Have you tried Dave Spragg at MSM? Rates were comparable with HHH for me, but I get breakdown cover (including European cover) included for about £30 I think.

We could go around all day doing this... ;)

A search really will give you the names of all the usual suspects. Footman James, HHH, and MSM are ones that crop up regularly. Others use Sureterm, and I'm sure there are more.

There is no 'best' or 'cheapest' really, you just have to ring around.

This thread may convince you that Flux aren't one of the better ones, I have no personal experience of them.

both bootleboy and Mike B have made claims with Flux and got good service.  Flux may bung on the extras, but are fine as soon as you ask them to take them off.  I had read a lot of bad reports about Flux (generally on the hearsay/customer care side of things, and not people who had to make claims), but reading this makes me feel happier being with them.

OB1 -  yes i tried to get my tin top insurers to quote for the westfield and they were cr@p on price.  my tin top insurers??? Footman James - go figure...
