studbuckle Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 Having moved house recently I just let the insurance on the westy get renewed automatically. Now I come to look at the renewal document I notice that they have added Legal protection, personal accident, and breakdown cover while at the same time excluding the use for commuting. All in all a 60% increase on the final premium for less cover. A phone call has sorted it all out I should add but please be aware that adding these services is their 'policy' for automatic renewal and you need to tell them otherwise. Me, i'll be moving my policy soon as I want to change the cover and I dont like that sort of cheek. Quote
peterg Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 use Footman James or MSM - much better service IMHO than those Fluxers Quote
adhawkins Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 HHH have been good to me so far. Competitive, and very quick with cover modifications etc. I added a driver to my policy last Thursday lunchtime, and the new certificate came through my letterbox Friday morning. Andy Quote
DMS Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 Footman James have been very good. Firstly, when speaking to them direct they recommended going through the factory which resulted in a 50% reduction for the same policy. Secondly, Jersey has an idiosyncratic system where you have insurance discs instead of tax discs. Surprisingly they knew all about this and supplied the disc without delay. Driving without one is illegal. Not had to claim through them though. Quote
Toby Mack Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 I've had a windscreen claim via footman james on my Lotus. Very efficient and quick to pay up. BUT, just called them to quote for a 1700 xflow westfield and they quoted £413!! To put that into perspective, my lotus is £138 through them and best price I got for the westie is £158 (sureterm) with lots of others sub £200. Very strange but FJ will not be getting my business ! minghis Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 I have fallen foul of Flux's dishonesty and deception before even getting a policy with them. Think yourself lucky it took them a year to con you..... Minghis. Quote
Toby Mack Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 What Lotus? 1983 Excel. Just turned 20 years old which apparently makes it a "real" classic. The premium this year dropped from £210 to £138 Shame I have to sell it now I've bought the westie Quote

Carlos2003 Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 I had exactly the same happen to me with Adrian Flux, they added all those extra's to my policy when I hadn't ever had them before. A quick phone call did sort it out though and returned it to the normal fee. Out of all the quotes I had though when I took out my Insurance they were the best priced. And I rang about six other company's from which kit magazine. Quote
neilwillis Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 Cheapest is not always best however. There are other threads on this subject, I suggest a search, cuz a lot of people have some bitter experiences with Flux & co. Quote
studbuckle Posted April 9, 2003 Author Posted April 9, 2003 1983 Excel. Just turned 20 years old Now I feel Old! Quote
Toby Mack Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 Now I feel Old! Tell me about it! The Excel was brand new the year I passed my driving test. And I always thought classic must mean it was built years before I was born Quote
