david.c Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 Quote* 'Just to give you an idea of how high that is, your Mondeo engine would explode at 6000 revs!' James Allen - during the Malaysian Grand Prix It was on the telly.................so it must be true * if not the exact words, then close enough David Quote
nlash Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 I heard it too... one sure way to get sued by Ford! Whats the betting he retracts that statement in the very near future Quote
steppenwolf Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 I heard it too - my how we laughed ...... I agree, retraction expected mighty soon! Quote
Mike dB Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 I heard it too - my how we laughed ...... I agree, retraction expected mighty soon! I'll tell him next week how you all laughed at him. Tomorrow I will be seeing Martin Brundle, I'm gonna tell him he's put weight on & was dead sweaty on Saturday, you could see it on his shirt It is hard though, you trying 'waffling' for 2 hours without a break you might make mistakes too Quote
moomin Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 I thought the same... I thought, what's he on about, it explodes at 7000 revs doesn't it? moomin Quote
adhawkins Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 Any reader of the F1 related newsgroups will know that James Allen's commentary isn't the most popular... I probably wouldn't have ITV's sound on if I were watching the race live if it weren't for Martin Brundle's insights. At least he's not afraid to correct James Allen's many mistakes. Andy Quote
Eccentric_Rich Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 Perhaps he was referring to the diesel! Quote
Mike dB Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 At least he's not afraid to correct James Allen's many mistakes. but he didn't on Sunday Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 Oh how lucky I must be then cos I reved mine to7200rpm before I changed the rod bolts. Now it will only go to 8000rpm must have something wrong with mine then. Quote
Westfieldman Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 From Ford's tech manual [the one in the dealers workshop] Ford 2lt Duratec Maximum permissiable engine speed -intermittent 6675 rpm fuel shut off 6925 rpm. So it don't go bang at 6000 rpm its 7000 plus Quote
Al Yupright Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 I guess the red bit starts at 6K on the Ford Tacho. Quote
adhawkins Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 My first Focus (2 litre Zetec ESP) didn't even have a red bit on the tacho... Andy Quote
timd Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 Tomorrow I will be seeing Martin Brundle, I'm gonna tell him he's put weight on & was dead sweaty on Saturday, you could see it on his shirt I take it you haven't been to Sepang then?? After having worked in Kuala Lumpur for 4months, trust me you only have to step outside over there and you'll be sweaty like that - fit/fat or otherwise.. TBH I was impressed he even did that much of the track walk really, the humidity more than the heat (which in itself is ridiculous) is a killer.. Quote
Mike dB Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 I take it you haven't been to Sepang then?? Why would I want to go there? Might be going to Marenello though Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 Did you see M.S. get out of his car 35 years old and looked like he could have done it all over again. Button did not look quite so fit. P.s. well done Button Quote
