jeff oakley Posted April 5 Share Posted April 5 It all depends on what it needs doing. Restoring one especially with old parts costs a lot. If it goes to France where they can get early cars registered, it is worth a grand more. When you get above £5-6k you can buy a lot of later cars with modern engines and wide bodied version which are more saleable for us pie lovers. I think the charm of these early cars now is in having them in close to original build spec, Ford Crossflow with twin sidedraft twin choke Webers (or a single twin choke downdraft Weber), live axle and 4 speed gearbox, rather than buying one now to extensively modify. I would get it up and running, replace the tyres, flexible fuel and brake hoses, brake pads and shoes, flexible coolant hoses, and give it a good service including replacing oil and antifreeze, new brake fluid, drain the fuel tank, flush out the radiator and heater, new filters - oil, air and fuel, new rotor arm, distributor cap, condenser, plugs and leads, check coil OK, check fuses, clean all earths and electrical connections. Then MoT and use and enjoy. I would not over restore it, just as built and back up to running condition. If you change your mind, such a project car is always of interest… If you simply restore it it will always be saleable plus you won’t have sunk too much into it. 2 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
