Richard Houlgate Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Although not in the Speed Series I enjoyed this so much last year that I've entered again. Is anyone else going? Quote
Smudge62 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 That's a shame Richard as I know how much you enjoy the circuit, hope you feel better soon, David Quote
Richard Houlgate Posted May 23 Author Posted May 23 Polymyalgia, taking high dose of steroids so can't risk the high speeds. Thanks for your good wishes. Quote

Hope it improves soon Richard. Make sure your docs keep an eye on your haemoglobin levels. I was given too much testosterone and ended up with polycythemia. Been ill for almost 2 years as a result of my GPs mistakes! I discovered that basically GPs don't know much about this type of thing and yet some are prepared to give you (bad) advice about it. Luckily I did my research and told my doctor he was wrong and put a stop to being made even more ill. Good luck! Quote
Richard Houlgate Posted May 28 Author Posted May 28 Going to see the specialist this pm, no mention made of testosterone so far. If I had some would my times improve?! Apparently I'm a bit anaemic so which pay attention to this. One has to be one's own doctor these days to a certain extent. At least the steroids have given me full use of my legs again. 1 Quote

Richard Houlgate Posted May 28 Author Posted May 28 Thanks for your concern. The NHS was immaculate, all sorts of tests, diagnosis confirmed, continue to take the tablets and should be OK. But not sure when I'll next be out in the Westfield. Strictly speaking I have Giant cell arteritis. 2 Quote

Strictly speaking I have Giant cell arteritis. I’ve also had PMR since Aug 2023. It knocked me for 6 at the time but the steroids really got to work once I started them. I missed a couple of events but then got straight back into it. I’m down to 10mg/day and tapering down 1mg a month. luckily I don’t have GCA. That sounds even worse. There’s a forum online for PMR suffers that’s really useful. Quote

I can't compete at present as the 45mg of steroids I take very morning confuse me, no mental state to drive a car fast. Forum looks good, thanks. Quote
