Some dimensions of RAC rollbar please

hm, yeah. Thanks for your patience.

I had a look at the seat mould, and see that the seat is as low as possible, and I will be bolting it without runners, whichmeans between my double cheeks and frame will be only the thickness of the GF, so at most ~10mm.

I have Cobra seats in mine at the moment, and they will be going as soon as I can persuade the Missus that I really really need to spend some more (any tips on how to do that?)

I'm 6'6 tall, and I can only say that unless I sit as close to the floor as possible, vision is restriced.   That extra couple of inches will make a big difference to me (where have I heard that one before? ????????? )

Any chance of a 'bulk buy' of the factory padded race seats? :)

What do you mean "vision is restricted" unless you're close to the floor?

Presumably he's looking 'through' the top edge of the windscreen, rather than the windscreen itself?

Race seats you sit tighter and less chance of flying out if something happens. ???

Ehm...they look prettier? :D

That was why we went for Cobras in the first place - the missus isn't wide in the beam, but the Westfield race seats were not designed for the female form!

Mine are bolted straight to the floorpan, but even so, the extra couple of inches mean I sit too high.

I'm probably going to get one of Playskools grp race seats for myself, and keep the cobra in the passenger seat for now.

I'm not sure I like the idea of no padding though... :)

Actually, it's not so bad.

The current bucket seat I am making copies of (a 10yr old Sparco sprint) had no padding and I think it's one of the most comfortable seats I have ever had in a car.

I even went for a cross-continent drive in Europe (four days) in it and I don't remember ever sitting so well.

So padding isn't necessarily always needed, IMO.

(and at the time of that epic journey, I was quite skinny and didn't have a lot of extra "built in" padding :D I'm currently working on getting rid of some extra padding I've since acquired)

I reckon my built in padding will be enough.   I was thinking more about insulation than padding, cuz there's nowt worse than a cold seat (I wonder where I meditated on that one!;)

Righto. Sorry, I forget others have windscreens...

I made the seat on friday night (I'm very popular at home at the moment...) and today managed to squeeze it down into the seat well. It doesn't help that the drivers side is narrower than the passenger side on LHD cars  :bangshead:  but anyway, had my helmet on and all and came to height above rear bulkhead 55cm measured in a straight line from top of engine (which is highest point).

Oh well. It will look silly but at least I live if something happens.  :sheep:
