Wiring loom and fuel pipes

Recommended Posts

Right, after much swearing Ive eventually finished routing my brake pipes. Ive routed the front to rear along the bottom right of the transmission tunnel. Ive now moved onto fitting fuel pipes and wiring loom. The manual says to run the loom along the right side of the tunnel and the fuel pipes on the left.

However I am running a 20XE engine and therefore my induction side is on the right so it makes more sense to run loom along left side of the tunnel and then round the left of the engine bay, and run the fuel pipes on the right.

Am I ok to do this or will I find the loom too short in places.

Things look like they will be very tight around the diff area, and it looks like the handbrake cable will rub on the fuel pipe if im not carefull.

Anyone got any good photos of the installation in this area.

(ive seen the one on Leon Bs site) but some others would help.

Mark,

I run my fuel pipes along the lower left side of the tunnel. This way the return pipe connects straight through, the feed pipe runs transverse below the diff to the right hand side. From there it runs upwards along the chassis for another 10 - 15 cm, where I connected a fuel hose to connect to the fuel filter.

On the engine side I run the pipes upwards just before the end of the tunnel. Near the top rail I bend them to the right, crossing the tunnel. Halfway the crossing the pipes end and fuel hose takes over.

The loom is positioned on the top right hand side of the tunnel on my car. Running the loom on the lower side of the horizontal chassis member from the point where the diagonal chassis member connects to the horizontal one (near the handbrake mechanism) prevents that the loom rubs on this mechanism. From this point to the front I ran my loom on the inside

I do not have pictures from the loom and fuel pipes lay out at the rear. At the front of the tunnel it looks like this:
