I have a friend who bought a Westfield 8 years ago and has used it on track for that time but is now thinking of moving onto a Caterham. I know the car well. It is registered with a Kent engine in the 1980’s and has had an engine change to 2.0 Zetec at some time. It is registered as a “Ford Sport” it has no reserve and no buy it now he is allowing the eBay market to decide its price. I am pretty sure it is. SE and I am absolutely certain it is a Westfield but he is concerned that the “Ford Sports” Geist ration is a problem but neither he nor any previous owner has had a problem. I am aware of this car and know it well. It had an engine change to 2.0 Zetec by the previous owner and it has plenty of life in it it goes really brilliantly on track. The owner doesn’t understand Westfields too well so this could be a real bargin for someone possibly the French contingent but I am not sure about the engine change does anyone know if the engine change messes up the important to France? I am sort of not very good on these “forums” but felt that the car is better than my friend thinks it is so thought someone here might be interested and in fact identify if the registration was a problem which it looks like it isn’t. Absolutely. Mine is a 2002 chassis, completed and SVA'd in 2004 by me. Having fulfilled the quota of parts from the doner Escort (engine, gearbox, axle and front brakes) I was issued with an age related number plate. Not the same one the Escort had, but the same year, hence ORC 763P. SDV cars (Mazda/Sierra) can get an age related plate based on the donor’s age but the V5 should have the registration date as the date the kit car was registered, not the donor. You can have a number plate that is older than the car but not, I believe, newer. What I don't know, though, is if they mean newer than the year the chassis was built or the year of registration. It was a shame the car sold so cheap as it was a nice car to drive. In the end the winning bidder failed to complete and a local guy was the underbidder and 3 weeks later the deal was done and the new owner was definitely both keen and happy.
