kenton Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 I'm looking for ideas for my wife's and my next holiday. Ideally a bit of an adventure, self drive holiday. I remember someone on here posting pictures of him in his Westfield anniversary t shirt in some interesting places. Only looking for a 2 to 3 week trip awayfrom the uk and Europe. Already travelled in. Australia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Namibia, Panama, Costa Rica, Belize, Chile, Argentina, Japan. Did a US San Francisco -vegas- La trip which was ok but the more challenging destinations are more appealing Did have a trip booked for Peru and the Galapagos bit the company folded during covid. Luckily we got our deposit returned. Where have you been thats off the beaten track that you would recommend. Im saving New Zealand for when I'm older as its an easy option. Quote
Euan Hoosearmy Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 Vancouver Island. Ferry from Vancouver to Nanaimo then drive round the coast stopping wherever suits. If you want to go proper wild, just head North and its all trees and bears after a while. Great whale watching trips from Uclulet Quote
Stuart Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 Almost +1. Fly Calgary. Go Banff then Jasper via the Icefields Parkway. Then drive to Vancouver and ferry to Vancouver Island. Depending on available time and budget drive up the top of Vancouver Island then get the little seaplane to Great Bear Lodge in the Canadian wilderness. 1 Quote

Currently looking at an Indian self drive. Nepal also looks good but can only find trips with a driver. I do prefer to be independent. Quote
kenton Posted January 1, 2024 Author Posted January 1, 2024 As this is a car club and we all love driving a road trip is my idea of a prefect holiday. Video of a previous trip Quote
Terry Everall Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 We did Namibia in a Toyota Yaris !!!!!!!! Got stuck on a dried up river bed which then meant a 150 mile diversion Quote
kenton Posted January 1, 2024 Author Posted January 1, 2024 Fair play. I wouldn't have even tried the sand in a yaris. Some days you wouldn't see another car for hours Quote
Terry Everall Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 Yep we often did not see another car for 3 or 4 hours ~Amazing place Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 Canada and Iceland are on our must do list. Patagonia is very impressive, especially if you like dodging Icebergs or walking on Glaciers. Another must do is a Safari, Chobe National park in Botswana was good for us, we were greeted by this fella. And if you follow an Elephant in a canoe, keep your fingers crossed he doesn't turn round.
