On the off-chance that someone has a set (I believe AB performance used to do them?) of these lying about...

Ā

I'd happily take them off your handsĀ šŸ™

I made my own.Ā  Very simple and easy to do. Bit of ply the thickness of which determines the height of the finished article. Jigsaw out the required shape, lay the mesh between the two bits of ply and tap lightly.Ā  Simples šŸ™‚

I don't suppose I can borrow those templates?Ā  Happy to pay for postage and return when done...

Hi Quiten,Ā hope you’re well, same as Kenton above, mine were missing when I brought the SEight this year. 1st job was to make new ones. See link for mesh off eBay ( copy this in search - Black Aluminium Car Bumper Grille 120cm x 40cm Grill Mesh Net Vent 8mm x 4mm UK )Ā I used cardboard for templates with 10mm overlap all around to produce the bevel. Used sticks like **** to bond to the underside of the bonnet - but if done again I’d get this in black rather than white which I used. Turned out ok. I then lined the inside of the bonnet with heat resistance material to cover the inside white bonding. Can take photos tomorrow if it helps. Cheers Phil RĀ

Hi Phil, are you saying that you used cardboard to create the bevel, or just to ensure that the raised bit fits the holes?Ā  I've bookmarked a few mesh designs but to create the bevels I'd need to learn a new skill...Ā  figure sawing šŸ˜„Ā

No sorry!! I used cardboard to create the dimensional template for the finished aperature. Then drew them out again with 10mm overlap to allow for bonding. Then transferred to the mesh & literally cut with decent scissors. Then turn the bonnet over and wearing work gloves started to hand-form the mesh around the apertures. Then simply put them in place & weighted them to prevent movement. Then used ā€œsticks like ****ā€ to bond to bonnet. Honestly was a simple process & the mesh forms easily by finger pressure.Ā
If I was to do them again, I’d probably use plywood templates (as Kenton did) to rebate flush to the outside of the bonnet panel, as I think his look better than mine.
I’ll take a couple of photo’s tomorrow if mine. Ā

Sorry, they were so easy to make I binned them.

There is no guarantee that the holes have been trimmed the same on each bonnet.

I also found that there was a slight difference between each side.

All the best

Kenton

hi Quinten, pls see photos below - note mine aren’t recessed back to top surface so think Kenton’s look much better, but needed some as they were missing. I reckon this year I’ll change them now I’ve seen these. šŸ‘

Just out of interest, B&Q sell a whole range of mesh sheets, different patterns and mesh sizes, also IIRC they do black, silver and gold I think. At least you could see them in the flesh before deciding on the style you want. No risk of damage in the post either.Ā

I have just fitted some of the mesh from B&Q to my car. They only had the silver but a few coats of black spray and hey prestoĀ šŸ‘
