Dan Ingram
That tyre fitter is on to a good money-making scheme. Chucking old screws onto the road on his lunch break.

jeff oakley
Has it actually penetrated through the carcass? Unless it is a very long screw you might be lucky. alternatively you could look at a major repair. It is specialised work but pretty good and safe. for many they would not risk it but would have no issue
Hafod
Winter studded tyres?

New tyre on now. 3 hours ago, jeff oakley said: you could look at a major repair Not worth the risk for me. I’d rather be out of pocket than have it in the back of my mind every time I caned it around the twisties. What was particularly annoying though was that I got 4 new Lotus OEM spec tyres on a sweet deal with free fitting for only £371, but then had to shell out £124 just for one 🤬 56 minutes ago, Hafod said: Winter studded tyres? 🙄
jeff oakley
That is what bothers most people Chris but I used to be a regional manager for National tyres many years ago and we used a company called Meridian Tyre repairs. The guy who owned it was a real car and bike nut. He took us to the plant and showed us how they did them and they were as safe as a new one. They also did, at the time, major repairs on Aircraft tyres. They supplied tyres to one team that did, I cannot remember if it was the London to Sydney or Mexico rally, all tyres that had had major repairs. It is annoying when you have a new tyre like that damaged. My most stupid one was fitting a tow bar and managed to drill a hole in the sidewall of a brand new expensive tyre on my Jaguar. I got that repaired.😟

It was still in the spare wheel well, the worst part was hearing the hiss followed by the laughter from my wife who watched it all unfold. I couldn't even cover the stupidity up
pistonbroke
Maybe my sinical mind, but where the screw is looks as if it may have been planted there by someone who either doesn't partcularly like you or the car. Just saying !

Just saying ! Unlikely- I drove it from the tyre fitter straight into my garage. Then a few days later took the wheel off to tinker with the suspension.
