Not sure if this is the right place to ask but are build manuals in the download section only available to members ? Still thinking about buying a car just trying to soak up as much info before spending money. Thanks.

Having just logged out and tried, yes it would appear you have to be a full member. Although I don't know what the "trial" bit gives you. Is there something in particular we can help you with ?.

Ah, thanks for checking wasn't sure if I was missing something. I've found out a huge amount from various threads on here already. I've asked about the pedals on earlier cars and since found pictures showing the way the escort pedal boxes are mounted. I did wonder if it would be possible to use later Westfield parts and fit a top hung pedal box but it seems that would require steering column mods as well. The only thing I haven't found is how the outer clutch cable is mounted at the pedal end.

The car is was registered in 92.

All this might be better asked in another section 😉

If you have access to the Tech Talk section, then yes , that is where you need to post questions like this. My own car is 94 so not too far off yours.

As is the Tech Section.

In order to make a dedicated archive of technical information that is safe and secure, and where photos or stored copies of manuals, 3D printing files etc don't go missing, at the random marketing whim of a third party photo hosting company, the WSCC owns the server this forum is run on; if we need more storage space because members have had a bumper year of taking photos, we buy another hard drive and fit it!

However, this server is not some re-purposed old PC sat in a club members spare bedroom. It's a dedicated server sat in one of the many national secure data centres.

There is a cost to this of course, as we don't just pay for the hardware, and it's spot in the data centre, we pay for the connection "pipe" to the outside world of the internet etc too. This is one small part of what the membership fees go towards, (as well as we like to think, the Best printed Club Magazine out there, the Best Club stand at the National Kit Car Show, etc).

In fact, joining while looking for a car can have some huge benefits, not just from the wealth of help and support available from the Clubs superb members, but for services such as insurance, vehicle collection and transport, etc, too - many with club member discounts, that can physically recoup the cost of joining surprisingly quickly!

Thanks for the replies. I quite understand about member benefits, not many forums left other than those run by clubs so I am grateful for the access I have already had.

After looking online for a copy of the correct build manual and finding one on ebay for more than the cost of a trial membership I paid up last night !

The version I was after is in the 3 manual download file so I got a bargain.

The car I am considering buying has been off the road for a long time and I can't test drive it. I know the pedal position will be a problem so I want to be able to come up with a reasonable plan on how to sort it out. Have to say the slightly later Westfield pedal assembly looks to be a better idea. The addition of some flexible brake lines and some extra bolt holes would almost make it adjustable.

Now you've paid up, I'd suggest you start a fresh post in Tech with your questions once you're ready etc.
