Guys. I'm about to pick up my recon pinto engine for an SDV. A shallow sump is an expensive optional extra. Is it necessary. If yes, then where can one be sourced cheaply?

I think that if you were really careful you can get away with it. But as the stock sump sits about six inches from the ground it wouldn't take much to ground it.

An RS2000 sump will fit nicely and you can pick one up from ebay or Yukspeed will shorten and paint your existing one for about £60.

Six inches? I don't know of *any* Westfield with that much clearance under the sump..........

I believe the *norm* for a westfield would be a tad over 4" or 10cm for you young 'uns  :p

Both mine have a fair bit less than 4" clearance........
