Roll bar kits

Bit of a long shot but I’m after a wide front roll bar kit and FW rear roll bar kit.  Please message me if you have either.

Thanks.

Not trying to be a pedant, just trying to help clarify your request. 😁

I assume you want a set of front and rear anti roll bars for a wide body chassis with Westfield widetrack front wishbones?

Not sure if it matters what body style, unless the FW tank gets in the way somehow - maybe @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman

can clarify 👍

Yes as you have put it. Front and rear or either for a wide body chassis with wide track front wishbones.  Thanks.

The “FW” bars were originally Sport Turbo, none adjustable bars.
Actually, FW anti roll bars are different at the back, for exactly the reason you mention. On an FW the rear bar goes where the tank sits in a ZK, so the mounting blocks are different, and the drop links to the wishbones are much shorter. An FW rear bar, won’t fit a ZK, and vice versa.

The FW/Sport Turbo front bar, to avoid fowling the tilting one piece bonnet and nose moulding was designed to mount behind the front wheels on the rear upper wishbone mounting position, rather the traditional ZK style in front of the axle line. But in this case, the FW style front will work with a ZK front, with no problems. (It is a wide track bar).

HOWEVER, three points, 1. in common with all the other Westfield factory roll bar options, they’re a bit stiff, still, for road use. (Though not as bad as the others). 2. They can be prone to bending and ultimately potentially breaking the rose joints that the drop links fit to. 3. I know a number of owners who have removed them, after issues with bent parts, who have left them off, proffering the car with out.

Hand on heart, I’d struggle to recommend the old factory roll bar kits in any of the versions supplied.

Sadly, the softer style Playskool bars are no longer available now Playskool is no more. But Siltech do the best ARB options for Westfields these days. However, there again, I know people who have tried them, and ended up, (for the road) preferring NO ARB at all.

Personally, I have the softer sprung Playskool bars on mine, and I do prefer it to no ARB, as even for the road, I like the way it allows you to balance the car the way you prefer, but that’s just my personal taste.

This is my view. For road use I can’t see the point and if you run 15” rims they can make the car feel horrible (in my experience- Dave obviously disagrees 😁 and mine were also soft PlaySkool bars)

I got some for track use and always disconnected them when on the road until I switched to 13” rims where the tyres made up for the awful jittery feel.

But at least we now have the answer to if you need FW specific items 👍
