markg Posted March 6, 2004 Posted March 6, 2004 which bits need rubber edging fitted? i have fitted all the other sva bits and bobs but cant find anywhere to put the edging strip? is it just a case of using it everywhere? westfield gave me some edging with the round rear light kit! but these fit quite flush against the bodywork Quote
karlgurney Posted March 6, 2004 Posted March 6, 2004 I've put the edging around the rear fog light and reverse light, and the rear number plate mount needs it round the edge. I haven't fitted any interior panels so i have also put some over the sharp fibre glass edges on the inside of the vechile, just put it anywhere where it will go that doesnt have a 3mm radius you can always remove it after sva. mb893 Posted March 6, 2004 Posted March 6, 2004 If in doubt, take it all with you. My SVA chap was extremely underwelmed about the Factory headlamp braket covers - I used some U channel rubber superglued in place. Cycle wings, maybe. Scuttle/tub joint for sure. Good luck. Quote
markg Posted March 7, 2004 Author Posted March 7, 2004 i filed the edges smooth on the scuttle-tub joint and then fitted the small vinyl covered panels over them, will they be ok with these? also i have the round carbon effect fog and reverse from svc. i assume they will be ok? forgot to mention that i had already covered the edges of the headlamp bracket covers that was the only place i could think of that needed it! any suggestions for anywhere else i have yards of the stuff also i havent fitted a spare wheel bracket or number plate mount/number plate light, do i need to fit those? karlgurney Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 I think its an mot requirement to have a rear number plate light, someone correct me if im wrong. Quote
Leon B Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 Had my SVA on friday, took all the bits along with me and anytime the tester mentioned edges I got my rubber stip out and stuck it on. You'll need edging round the exhaust clamp that holds the tailpipe on also. Possibly mirrors depending on which ones you have. Quote
Tigger Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 Hey Leon, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have Spa mirrors fitted to your car. It's just I didn't think they were SVA compatible? If they are, how did you manage to pass on them??? Quote
Leon B Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 Wont pass SVA as they are but with a little bit of rubber edging they will pass, thats what the examiner told me anyway Quote
