Somerset & Devon meets & events

[Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somerset]

As another COViD evacuee 😉, I moved down to Crewkerne in Somerset from Walton-on-Thames two years ago (how time flies!) and since re-buying my old SEi a year ago I’ve been enjoying the fine company of the Dorset group meeting in Bridport.

 

With Sean’s time now taken up with other activities, there is a chance for me to give being AO for Somerset and Devon a go so that we can hopefully get some meets going for those living further West in Devon and also further North in Somerset. It’s a huge area so we may have to be imaginative in terms of meet locations or satellite groups but I’m sure we can work something out.

 

So first off, please post up here if you are in the Somerset & Devon area and interested in monthly meets, drive-outs or other events and we can go from there. Once I know where everyone is we can start making some plans.

Thanks Chris. It’s a big area so I’m sure we will end up with runs in different areas and hopefully mixing between different groups where it suits. Dorset are having a run around Somerset this Saturday for instance which unfortunately I don’t think I can join. I suspect Devon are the guys that are missing out most so I’ll try to put some focus there.

Yep, will make sure I co-ordinate with your calendar to avoid clashes as much as possible or join up together when we can. Perhaps we can even arrange some bigger convoys up to the shows in future.

Hi Stu, I'm north of Bristol and in Chris Broster's crew so may be able to join in from time to time. We were only talking on his Bristol and Bath WhatsApp group earlier today about getting various groups together for meets so I'm very interested to see what you manage to organise. My personal opinion is multi-group coordination is the way forward. It can only lead to better things for all us kit car owners 👍👍

Just looking at the map, I thought I would suggest a ‘starter for ten’ of Tiverton for somewhere to meet up, favouring Devon to a degree so as to cover a different area to the Bridport meets, while hopefully North Somerset members can link up with Bath and Bristol?

 

It’s about an hour for me, but that’s doable. Fairly handy for Exeter. It’s such a big area that it’s going to be hard to find one location that works for all.

 

Thoughts appreciated. If it looks like a possibility I’ll have a look for some locations.

 

I would favour either 2nd or last week of the month due to other commitments and like either a Monday or Thursday evening.

 

I’ll tag those I’ve gathered as a little list so far, I’ll also put a note out on the Somerset WhatsApp group. Perhaps we need a new WhatsApp group covering Somerset and Devon.

About a hour for me to, Tiverton sounds good. Any night but Thursday would suit me better.
