I'm now a proud owner of a Westfield!

After months of searching (read waiting ;) ) I've gone and got me a 2.0VX in Yellow/Black (bottom half and rear is black, top half and front is yellow.

Ran absulutely perfectly although the turning circle aint great :D Previous owner had kept it in immaculate condition, inside & out, hardly a mark to be seen and after spending much of today looking underneath and through the cables, it's clear the original builder knew what he was doing.

Picked it up in North Yorkshire yesterday and drove it all the way back to croydon via an overnight stay in chester.

:) Anyway, 'official' Hello to everyone and hope to see some of you at various meets, trackdays etc. in the future.

Just read your other thread, that is good going to spin out and damage your car so soon it usually takes at least a month to get to those speeds. Have fun but stay safe.

Second that advice. Take it easy for a while. Chances are you're unlikely to have driven a car before with performance and handling like a Westfield.

Build up slowly, and if you want to learn how it reacts with the tail out, find some small roundabouts :)

Also, get yourself on an airfield day as soon as you can. When you see what the car can do when given its head, it's unlikely you'll feel the need to try to do it on the road.

Remember, just cos you can drive well, doesn't mean other people can. My scariest moment in my Westy was coming around a bend (while 'making progress' :)) and finding a 4x4 coming towards me on my side of the road. Not nice.

Go easy, seriously.

Welcome to the world of Westfield ownership.

I have also just purchased my first Westy (2 months ago) and its been driven a totall of 200miles.

My last outing was at Curborough this week where i realised its quick and fun and can be pushed hard. Just a couple of lairy moments but best on the track !!!!

Well come aboard and enjoy. At least you're talking a cultured Yorkshire bred Westfield back down to the effluent south :p  No doubt you been a southern girlie you'll start by putting a set of net curtains across the screen and  lace trim the seats with sequins  :p  :p  :D  :D

Enjoy and take it steady until you get use to it. Westfield's do bite back and they have big teeth

Thanks chaps.

May try and get to the meet next sunday (depends on other commitments & weather). If not then, then defo one of the coming few after that :)

The spin wasn't really due to pushing the car hard. I was making ok progress and had taken the roundabout the same speed and style as the previous few. I must have hit some diesel or mud. The guy behind me in a vectra who stopped to help me said his car slid at the same point but he just understeered and then got back grip so was ok.

It was 5.30am so was still dark. The lesson to be learnt is to take it even easier at night as you can't see stuff on the road like you can in daylight. Anyway, it's healthy to have a wake up call from time to time. Makes one learn to respect the car more. A good check over the car once home shows that there's no damage whatsoever (apart from my pride ;) ) apart from dislodging the speedo cable thingy but will get geometry checked at some point to be on the safe side.

Previous to the Westie I had an S2000 which is a RWD that can let go in poor conditions. Done a number of trackdays in it and am comfortable with how a powerful RWD behaves. However, I do need some track practice to learn the Westie which I'll be doing rather soon :)
