rickysauce
Welcome to the reluctant sale of my Navy Blue 1999 SEIW 1800 Zetec! Sadly, I have other priorities in life just now and the Westie has to go. It's been brilliant fun for the past 4 years, and hopefully the next owner can enjoy it as much as me. I was the 2nd owner and the car has been really well looked after, only showing the kind of wear and tear you'd expect after 24 years of fun. It was factory built and all paperwork has been retained. Since purchasing the car, I have modified it to change from an underslung exhaust to the side (was absolutely necessary for any road driving in my eyes!). Original carbon silencer exhaust kit and manifold were used (bought direct from Westfield). Just last month, the original front brake calipers have been replaced with genuine Westfield parts, plus pads (to get it through MOT - expires June 2024). With swept wings, it is currently on a private plate, which could potentially be included as part of the sale if desired. It's a beautiful car, so will be very sad to see it go. Most spec details shown in the images, but any questions, please just shout. Has done 18,500+ miles. I am looking for £9,000 (reduced from £9,500 on 11th Aug) to break even on it. The car is in Basingstoke and you can call me on 07879427377.
rickysauce
Hi all, Quite a lot of views on the car, but no offers or interest yet sadly. I would appreciate any advice from the members in whether I should include more info / pictures etc. to try and help with a potential sale. 🙏 Also, not sure whether members would recommend using AutoTrader or Pistonheads etc. as another sale route? I have priced the car fairly (based on what it owes me) but if the price is missing the mark, I would be keen to take advice too. All thoughts welcome. Thanks. Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
I've used Piston Heads etc as well. But one thing i would add, photos of the car looking pretty are fine, and detail shots of things like the (very) minor bit of seat damage are great. BUT, when evaluating build quality, condition etc 99.9% of people want to see under the bonnet. And not just a single shot from 10m away! A few good frame filling shots of the engine bay from different angles/directions helps a lot. Apart from condition, overall in there, potential buyers are looking at the state of wiring and piping and their runs; are they neat and tidy, clipped up and supported as appropriate, in good condition etc... Similarly, if you have any uprated parts on there, close up photos are worth their weight in gold. When selling in a specialised place like an owners forum, or a more general enthusiasts forum like Piston Heads, detail is king, both in photos and text. So for instance, once past the title, it's not even that clear what engine you have.. OK, we know it's a 1.8 Zetec, but is it on the Ford single throttle body, or after market ITB, or carbs. (hint, photos are really handy here, as too, as they help detail any bits of spec you're not sure about). It's a nice looking car, with a little TLC needed trim wise, but the price also seems very good for what we can see in the photos. Car's like Westfield though, sell on condition and to a lesser extent spec. rather than age or mileage. Hope that's of some help?
rickysauce
Hi Dave, Thanks for the reply, that is hugely helpful! I will find out what else I can about specifics and take a good selection of under bonnet pictures which will hopefully help prospective buyers. I'm not mechanical, so have definitely been a driver more than a mechanical enthusiast during my time of ownership! Thanks very much, I will update the post in the coming day and also list on Pistonheads once the pics and description are up to scratch. Best regards. Phippsy
I've sold 2 in the last couple of months and both had very very little interest, other than the actual person who actually bought them. They're not like cats where if you price them right then they will sell in a heartbeat, a lot of it is luck; meaning that there is actually a person out there looking for a car of your spec. Westfields are a very very small market, so if you're not lucky that you list it at the right them then you have two options. - Be prepared to wait - Lower the price so someone can't say no. Only your specific position will define which of these you choose to go with.

rickysauce
Thanks for the input @Phippsy, sorry I had missed your post before now. Good thoughts and well done on your sales. I understand the small market and am not in a huge rush to sell, so can hang fire for now, but will see how things go. At the moment, I can still make the most of enjoying the drive when the sun is out, which is fantastic. Thanks for you comments. I have just added some more photos of the engine bay. Cheers.
rickysauce
Price reduced to £9,000. If it doesn't sell, it's not meant to be and I'll happily keep hold of her. At least I can tell the wife I tried. 😃
