Beggers
Alloy polo rad with thicker than standard core I'm after in next week as have a race in 2 weeks and need to upgrade cooling and need time to make it fit. After seeing some nasty temps on a track test day this week. Price not a problem, if it's new waiting to go on your project etc anything like that will help me out massively with my time constraints! Thanks!
Kingster
Do you have your current rad sealed/ducted so no air goes around it? I only ask as I have found that makes as much (if not more) difference as a thick rad to cooling my zetec.
Mighty Mart
@Beggers My old rad (thick heavy duty jobby) split on the bottom outlet and I was going to get it repaired. To get the Westie back on the road quickly, I bought a VERY cheap Polo rad off e-bay... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/273894588407 Imagine my surprise when after 2 days, a MAHLE rad appeared.... As an aside, I've got a tuned High Compression x flow that always ran hotter than I'd like (on a hot day in traffic) and never had a stat fitted, which I really didn't like.... Bodged the new rad in temporarily, and was amazed to see the engine temps down where they should be with a stat fitted too. Binned off the much bigger older rad now - the new one is lovely! Mart. Kingster
That’s from Advanced Radiators in Washington (Tyne & Wear not US!) - which is who I bought my inexpensive polo rad from. As mentioned, more than up to the job on track as long as it is ducted. 1
Beggers
Funny enough, thats the one I had. I've reviewed ducting and angles and managed to get hold of a 55mm alloy version of the polo rad. Hopefully the 2 changes combined are enough. Also added an oil cooler to the cars setup.
