Hi all, after a long wait (that many years I've stopped counting!) I should finally get my first Westfield SEight this weekend. I've researched the myriad Insurance Companies from direct to brokers and have a very reasonable (well remarkably low IMO) quotation from a company I've never dealt with before called 2gether insurance see below:

Just wanted to know if anyone on WSCC has used these, had any experience good/bad, as I tend to think "very low price = poor service" especially in the need of a claim... would welcome your considered reviews. Phil R

Great news and congrats on getting the V8!

My first year of "Westfielding" I used 2Gether and found them ok to deal with and I got a good price.

The second year they seemed to want so much information it was ridiculous (they're a broker so may not be their fault) so I moved to A-Plan and have been with them since.

A-Plan (the Thatcham branch deals with kit and specialist insurance) are very good. They sponsor the club, give members a good discount and you'll always find them at the car shows (Carlie Norwell was at Malvern for instance). They've a good reputation amongst the classic and modified car scene too.

Cheers Rob, I've give them a try now, I have gone to the usual in Flux, Lancaster & AIB so another quote won't hurt... thx

When I was changing my insurance from build cover to road going, everyone other than A plan wanted north of £500 for my XI. I believe the final cost came in under £300, which I'm happy with.

@Rob Hunter Derby & Notts AO I spoke to A-plan & they’re going to offer a quote but struggled with some questions.. how much experience with a Westfield? Me - none - is the car modified? Me - 100%

Thanks again for the steer.

Was it the Thatcham branch you called?

As I think it was Carlie has posted before either on here or Facebook, those are standard questions which as a broker they are required to ask you.

the difference using a specialist broker such as them though is that even though these questions have to be asked their team are familiar with our cars and appreciate that they are all unique and  do not have a “standard” against which to compare.

A Plan are superb. I've had kits and the work pick up with them for years, not always the cheapest, but having had to make a claim with them on the pick up some years ago, the service was second to none, so I'd rather go with who I'm confident will look after my interests.

Re the questions, as Mark said, standard questions that should be asked, (not all brokers do, which I don't find reassuring!) Sometimes some care is needed in the answers. When I had the Westfield experience one years ago, the answer was no, but did have experience with similar high power, rear drive cars, with no driver aids, which was what they were getting at. Equally, when asked if my (home built) Westfield Mega S2000 was standard or modified, the answer at the time, as it was true, was that yes, it was Westfields standard spec, apart from using Stack instruments not VDO. Again, told them what they really needed to know.

Of course, it's not always easy to know unless you have a specific model the factory sold. So always give too much, rather than too little info. They will filter through that, and make a note of what they have to. So after upgrades a few years ago, for example, I listed my changes as "supercharger, uprated cooling system, fuelling system, ecu, flywheel and clutch." I also listed the change to an AiM dash, and the bodywork swap to FW rear.

Did it make any difference to premium cost? Actually not really, the only difference to the previous cover was inflation. BUT, in the event of the worst happening, it's all there on the record.

Another vote for A-Plan, they know their onions to say the least.  Got an agreed valuation this year which is a comfort and the premiums are very attractive.  Had an minor accident many moons ago and they handled the lot, much to my relief.

Cheers Scott just gives a lot more confidence when you get this feedback

Hi all, another step closer to get my sweaty little mitts on my dream. Insurance sorted, A-Plan it was - thanks to all for the comments..... I tried the Thatcham Branch but didn't know that due to them being busy I went through to Market Harborough branch - the broker there Sonali was excellent, easy completion, all electronic no post (bonus) and discounted because of WSCC (makes the yearly subscription even better VFM) hope to see/meet some of you soon. Another very positive experience with A-Plan.

I called the Thatcham branch, but they were too busy so I was put through to Sam at the Witney branch.

She was extremely helpful and professional, so I am now insured via A-Plan and very happy!

I definitely recommend them, and glad of the info on this thread, as I was not looking forward to sorting out the insurance after a few years off the road, but it turned out to be a very straightforward experience.
