Rob Hunter - Club Secretary
Following tonight's monsoon, the forecast is good for tomorrow evening so a few of us are going along to the Moira Furnace car meet (Furnace Lane, Moira, Swadlincote DE12 6AT). We will do a pre-meet at Toons (Burton Rd, Castle Gresley, Swadlincote DE11 9HQ) at 6pm, and convoy in landing at Moira about 610pm. While entry is free, the organisers will ask for a contribution on the gate, all proceeds go to charity 👍 Feel free to come along
Rob Hunter - Club Secretary
A well attended meet last night, with loads of interesting cars on display. Colin, Ash, Alex and I met in "Swadvegas" at 6pm before a 10 min drive to the show where Iain and Rachael were meeting us. The show is situated in the grounds of Moira Furnace, an industrial revolution building and associated lime kilns next to the canal, quite a picturesque place for a local car meet. In amongst the classics and modified cars, I spotted one of my childhood favourites... an AC 3000ME! For those that don't know, they were a mid engined sportscar that rivalled the V6 TVR's of the late 70's. Fitted with the ubiquitous 3 litre Essex V6 they were a quick motor in their day. Having not seen one for about 20 years, they were like buses! 😂 Plenty of other cars to drool over too. From Escort and Sierra cosworths, classic Minis, Pontiac Firebird, Ferrari Mondial etc etc We even found another Westfield nestled in the classics. Never one to miss an opportunity, we tracked the owner down and had a good chat. He has owned the car 18 years and only livedls 3 miles away, hopefully he'll join us on a meet soon 👍
