electronic ignition for xflow ?

Since fitting twin 40's to my pre lit fitted with 1700x flow I find

that to change points I need to remove distributor. Would it be advisable to fit electronic ignition? if so, which would be best and where from?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I fitted an Aldon Ignitor to my Pinto engine.  It is simple to fit, is entirely contained within the distributor and works perfectly. I bought mine from Burtons for about £70.  There is also a Lumenition kit which fits inside the distributor but I have never seen one.

I use Lumenition Magnetronic on the Cossie, which I guess is what youmustbejoking is thinking of.

I've had mine on there for 4 or 5 years now, and it's been 100% reliable.

Either systems mentioned would be excellent, IMHO

The lumenition magnetronic is good but not available for the ford type dizzy only the lucas and bosch types, if you've got the ford one it'll have to be the aldon or the lumenition optronic which uses a seperately mounted module and an optical switch in the dizzy, it is a lot dearer though at about £120. whichever you use though you will notice a definite improvement in starting and perfrmance

I use the Aldon Ignitor and I know a couple of other people that use them, all on x-flows.  It is a direct replacement for the points, it's easy to fit, has no complex electronics and work well at a resonable price.

My Aldon Ignitor (the second one) on a 103FX lucas dizzy(43D4?) has worked perfectly once I read my own labels properly and connected the +12 & 0v the right way round  :durr:

Its true what they say... "they don't like it up them the wrong way"

Basically a complete replacement plate which sits where the points used to, and a magnetic collar that fits over the dizzy shaft on top of the plate right below the rotor arm.  70-80 notes from Aldon in Brierly hill.  Simple to fit, two wires, one to the coil +12V, the other to the -ve coil terminal.

does exactly as it says on the tin (well box)...

can't say more than that.....
