worzel Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 4 speed, type E (rocket) gearbox, bellhousing, release arm and gearlever (will sell complete only). In good working order, but could do with the front oil seal changing. I'm in Pinner, NW London. Offers please Cheers, Steve
Gazza Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 presumably the bell-housing is the heavy cast iron version, rather than alloy If its alloy, I'll bid you PS Does it make a horrible whining noise in all gears except top
worzel Posted March 2, 2004 Author Posted March 2, 2004 Gazza, The bellhousing is a steel item and not alloy I'm afraid. The gears do not whine and no, it's not straight cut if that's what you where referring to. Steve
Gazza Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 Sorry just pulling your leg of course, but I am after a spare sc/cr + alloy bellhousing - so just checking
nlash Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 Just as a matter of interest Steve, did you buy your car from a guy nr Leicester???
worzel Posted March 3, 2004 Author Posted March 3, 2004 Nigel, Yes, indeed the car was from Leicester. Do you know it? Bought it last summer and have had to spend lots of time and cash to bring it up to scratch. It's getting there though Steve

Bought it last summer and have had to spend lots of time and cash to bring it up to scratch. It's getting there though Steve Yeah I know the car... I went to look at it when I was searching for a Westy. I also thought it needed a lot of work but that was not the main reason for not buying it. The problem was I couldn't get in it (its not designed for a 6ft2 fat git like me! ) I realised then that the only option was a wide bodied car and I found one soon after. I guess you have replaced the box for a type 9 then as you're selling the rocket box? Have you ditched that oily washing up liquid bottle that was being used as a catch tank by any chance? From what I remember the seats and the wheels were really nice though
Toby Mack Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 How long is the type E compared to the type 9? Specifically the gearlever position and rear box mount position? Toby
worzel Posted March 3, 2004 Author Posted March 3, 2004 Nigel, The oily washing-up liquid bottle (catch tank) has gone. Hilarious that you remembered that LOL!! Out too with the oily, shagged engine, leaking cooling system and siezed brakes. Gearbox is still OK though, just not enough gears Steve
