mark.anson Posted March 1, 2004 Posted March 1, 2004 Ive seen M16 calipers refered to a few times on here and I am assuming this is the type of caliper commonly fitted to cortinas etc. I have some cortina calipers from my donor at the moment but as will have about 210bhp im considering going for some Bremsport alloy calipers. Do I ask for M16 replacements? Apart from the weight are they any better than the standard ones. If not can anyone recommend a decent brake upgrade for around the 350- 400 pound mark. Quote
Leon B Posted March 1, 2004 Posted March 1, 2004 I think your right with the M16, its cortina fitment. For 350-400 I'd recommend getting down to Cat Motorsport, they sell some lovely 4 pots. Hi-Spec appear to be good value but some members of the club have had problems with their customer service I recall. Quote
Blatman Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 CAT or Outlaw calipers would be my choice. I think Outlaw calipers canbe found on the Stuart Taylor web site......... The M16's will stop a 210bhp Westfield just fine though, so it's not a "must do" upgrade. Bear in mind that if you fit 4 pots you *may* need a different master cylinder. The increased swept volume of the 4 pots might leave you with a long, soft pedal if you use the standard master cylinder. Also, IMHO, the bigger master cylinder improves the feel of the brakes when 4 pots are used. Quote
