S2T Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 You may not be aware that MSUK are presently undertaking a consultation on track limits. Whilst I guess this is only for circuit racing I wonder if it will percolate to other disciplines https://www.classicsportscarclub.co.uk/post/track-limits-new-msuk-proposal?fbclid=IwAR3rMvvWmZarRnch4PLVNTA7REnd9-Nu-K-_3UWW4iXlRH_-J0a3KbHVL2E Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 It’s not a massive change from the old rule from what I can see. previously the whole wheel couldn’t cross the white line whereas now the proposal is that no part can cross the outside edge of the line. I know JP is very particular about the grass at his MSV circuits. Quote
stephenh Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 It is a big change to what is (or has been) permitted in sprinting. And it would require a "judge of fact" at every corner, which might cause organisational problems, as well as maybe cost issues. Quote
Terry Everall Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 I am not sure how this would affect sprinting or hillclimbing where we have always been allowed 2 or three wheel over the outer line so long as one wheel remains ON THE TRACK. F1 track limits are a joke Quote
stickymint Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 Looking at the link, it applies to Circuit Racing, so unless there is anything else specific for sprinting and hill climbing we can carry on the current rules of One Wheel on the track is my interpretation. Section Q – Circuit Racing Q.12.21.2. Drivers must use the track at all times and may not leave the track without a justifiable reason. For the avoidance of doubt: (a) The white lines defining the track edges are considered to be part of the track. (b) A driver will be judged to have left the track if any part of the tyre wheel of the car goes completely beyond either the outer edge of any kerb or the white line where there is no kerb. Q.12.22. Breaches of 12.21.2 may be reported and/or determined only by: (a) A duly appointed Judge of Fact and/or (b) Senior officials through the use of suitable equipment under the control of the organisers. Competitors may not protest each other in respect of breaches of track limits (C.5.1). Quote
