jaykay42
Thank you for the kind offers - on balance I have decided to stick with a repair to mine. Purely on financial grounds. Good evening I had a little (?!) mishap this morning - my bonnet took off. I managed to collect all big pieces from the side of the road but the repair, while not impossible, will be pricey. Maybe someone has a spare bonnet they would be happy to sell - and unless you're near Devon ship via a courier? Ideally for an SEiw, but always quite liked V8 bonnets - so if it fits onto the car, I will be interested. Thank you
evosteve
Hope you are OK and looks like it's time to practise your fibre glass repair skills!
jaykay42
Hi Steve Yes, I'm very well but mightily annoyed by my own stupidity. Did I double-check whether it was closed down properly? No. Did I know that the catches can be a bit iffy? Yes. Do I have to learn most lessons the hard way? Yes. That definitely surpasses my own time & skill though! Did I hear you were offering to fix it 😉
Glen_I
I have a Non-genuine V8 bonnet in black though. The reason I never used it in the end (despite wanting a V8 one) was that my newly fitted throttle bodies and airfiler protruded at such an angle that I would've had to cut into the edge of the intake/scoop and it just didn't look right in my eyes (to fussy....) I'm based in Newbury, Berkshire just off the M4 so doable from North Devon as opposed to the worry involved with courier.

jaykay42
Evening all! Related to my bonnet problem: Anyone out there with experience with wraps? The car wrap specialist in Plymouth I contacted and asked for a price quote for a bonnet basically didn't want to do it because he worried about how badly any of his yellows will match the rest of my car. So, does anyone know a ballpark figure for a bonnet wrap? And: are they worth pursuing as a cheaper but almost as good as a paintjob? Or are they just too flimsy and rip etc. too quickly and hence are not worth the outlay? Also: anyone else who's selling a bonnet, please get in touch 🙂 Thank you! SootySport
You kept that secret from me😀It had flown off before years ago but my passenger caught it.
jaykay42
Wow, who was that passenger? R2D2? It happened so fast, I probably would have needed Yoda on board with me. Makes me feel a little better to hear that you had that same misfortune before - still can't entirely rule out that I didn't fasten it down properly. If it was down to my stupidity - that stings. It will receive an additional lip at the front to help secure it down. Lesson learned (hopefully)
