Labrat Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Happy New Year all. I am being arm twisted by the wife and kids to drive 5+ hours to look at a really big greenhouse (I am sure it will be really good ), and I can't even take the Westfield. As someone who hasn't been to Cornwall for 35 years and doesn't know where the good spots are, does anyone from that neck of the woods have any recommendations for places to stay? Ideally we would be looking for a self catering cottage for 2 adults and 2 kids (9 and 4) in late May. Can't see the wood for the trees on the various websites. Quote

Hi Luke, we’ve stopped here with my brother’s family https://www.thebaytalland.com/properties I can’t remember how far away it is from Eden though. my brother’s been back a few times since too 1 Quote
Onliest Smeg David Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 We've done EP twice, once camping other based in Charlestown on South Coast near St Austell (good brewery tour) Can't remember the cottage near harbour but will try and find it as would recommend it. They do live concerts at EP https://www.edensessions.com/ , it's an excellent venue for them, so well worth planning trip around one of these. 1 Quote
Mark Stanton Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 We visited Eden whilst staying in Polperro just over a year ago - its a fascinating and interesting place - I would advise to take a picnic - the cafes/restos there are absolutely minging - dirty grubby and sticky (and over-priced) otherwise its really good. We had'nt been to that area in over 40 years there are still some glorious places, the one that had changed to most for me was Looe - Always loved it when a child ...... wow has it changed - it was heaving full of tattoo'ed chavs, unruly kids and place was full of chip shops and tacky plastic souvenir places 😉 #TripAdvisor 1 Quote

Looks like it is only 30 minutes from Eden. Mark- that was what I worried about but it sounds like we'll be spending most of our time at Eden at this point. Quote
Alan Cutler (Adge) - Dorset AO Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 Not on such a large scale as Eden, but The LostGardens of Heligan (~ SW of St Austell) are worth a visit if you are in the area. 2 Quote
SXRORY Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 Fowey, Lostwithiel, Charlestown or Pentewn sands (very nice beach here as well) all within half an hour of Eden if you can find some where around there as good bases 1 Quote
