Rob Hunter - Club Secretary
A few of us are planning to meet up at the Factoryheads Cafe at Donington (Donington Park Circuit, Castle Donington, Derby DE74 2RP) for breakfast. We are aiming to land about 930am, feel free to come along (tin tops more than welcome). Note, the Cafe is at the old entrance (the old museum) off the road to Castle Donington. If the Cafe is closed (possibly being a bank holiday and the website is not helpful... we will wait for everyone to arrive before trying Garage 39 or the Cafe at Sawley Marina). Rob Hunter - Club Secretary
A cold but dry start to the day this morning. First stop was Greg's house where he was trying in vain to breath life into his stunning n/a Cosworth powered Fury (flat battery). He decided to come in the tin top so Colin (in his tin top) and I headed to Donington. We had an amazing turnout, with Glynn (MX5 based SDV), Ash (crossflow narrow body) and Karl (Zetec engined FW) already there. It was Karl's first meet and our first sight of the car on its lovely split rims 😍 After a brief chat and a kick of the tyres we were joined by James (in his new XE powered track focused FW), Tony (in his Zetec SEIW) and Ollie in his Triumph Herald. Greg landed soon after, followed by Ben in his new VW Caddy (complete with diamond stitched leather seats) and Gary in his MR2 (of Curborough autosolo fame!). We had a good look round James's new motor, he's recently traded up to this more track focused car with full cage and a lovely black and gold XE under the bonnet. Ollie had spent lockdown restoring the beautiful little Herald (and has done an amazing job!) and is currently working on getting his R1 engined Stuart Talyor/Sylva Phoenix through IVA... some mad skills for a 22 year old! Glynn trying the Herald on for size! After breakfast for 10 people (we almost outnumbered the bikers 😂) and a good catch up on all things cars we headed to the car park for more tyre kicking. There was loads of laughter watching Glynn try and wedge himself into Ash's narrow bodied car.... let just say, it wasn't a successful mission 😂 Great to see you today guys, hope you all got home safe 👍
