After some suggestions on what to get my son for Xmas!  Can't get him to suggest anything, he's 25 & doing a phd in mechanical engineering design.
Anyone any sensible ideas?
Thanks

A deposit for a kit car to build together would be great IMHO 😁

Slight problem there though as he lives 250 miles away 😉

Home office stuff could be a good shout there. If he's spending a lot of time at a desk, a good chair (I bought a refurbished humanscale freedom a few years ago and it's brilliant), or a mouse and keyboard combination can make a big difference.

Lego, everyone loves Lego.    The Caterham 620 is a nice kit.

3D scanner? I know a lot use these for prototyping

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but can I ask what kind you use, and would you recommend it? I have a few projects they would be very handy for!

I do not have one myself, however there is a section in the Technical pages where there are some clever people who could advise you on that

Have you considered buying him membership in a well-known sports car club? 😎

Buy some club tickets and take him to Silverstone Festival 2023.. plenty of mechanical engineering to drool over 😎
