LoneWolf
Anyone seen this? https://www.tyrepress.com/2022/10/cooper-to-close-melksham-factory-2023-consultation/ Avon resellers in Italy are saying the ZZ range (produced in that factory) will be (probably) dropped completely. Also a bad news for all the employees losing their job...
jeff oakley
Sad news but not unexpected. Most multi national companies are always looking for saving a few pounds here and there and Goodyear have already made their world wide intention clear. Moving to a low cost, low rules country is their answer. It is funny, a company I have been dealing with first left the UK, for Poland, then moved as wages rose and EU rules were increasingly enforced, they then moved production to Tunisia to save money. They went bust last year as quality declined year on year and customers no longer wanted the cheapest product. Hopefully Avon as a name will not disappear but I would not bet against it

The race to the bottom doesn't always produce a winner!
DamperMan
Fairly sure most tyres are manufactured far east…. Energy, H&S, raw materials, labour and state help to set up new factories with new equipment is quite a draw. Continental car tyres say engineered in germany. Where as their peddle bike tyres say Made in Germany!
ianali
Twenty years ago when I was in the tyre manufacturing game. Most tyres were produced in the far east. Often in the same factories using the same compounds etc. Just used different moulds as required.
