Kingster Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 The only transferable Pinto to Blacktop part that I can think of would be the bellhousing. So with a used Duratec being a fair bit easier to source these days, you might be better off going down that route?

I'm easily swayed though. 4 hours ago, Kingster said: The only transferable Pinto to Blacktop part that I can think of would be the bellhousing. I'm guessing from both the replies a Duratec may be a whole lot easier, I don't suppose you know if there are differences fitment wise for the 150 Vs the 170?
Kingster Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 The 170? If you mean the ST170, that’s actually a Zetec (uprated Blacktop with VVT) and was just called “duratec” by the marketing dept 🙄
Kingster Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 In terms of cost, it depends on a few things. Zetecs are thin on the ground these days and will probably be very high miles. Sadly you can no longer pick up a new crate engine for under £1k like you could 5-6 years ago. But Duratecs will still be available with reasonable wear second hand and likely cheaper than a zetec. The cost of the add ons, if starting from scratch, (sump, induction, exhaust, ecu, plumbing, alternator etc) will be roughly comparable though. Plus - exhaust exit matches 😁
