Glen_I
It is clever until one of the pesky robots catch fire. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-58190969 This was major incident up the road from me which was allegedly down to a electrical/battery issue but the robot carried on functioning but whilst still on fire it was dropping burning parts into the various storage bins which then ignited. Supposedly they travel at 4m per second, so that will spread the fire very very quickly!? I'm sure there was other CCTV footage from within and it was astonishing how quickly everything was being set alight. But yes I do agree it is clever stuff. I believe there was a report published later on that the sprinkler system had been switched off??? After a quick Google it says there has been 3 more fires since (different premises). Let's hope someone is learning from these mishaps

Man On The Clapham Omnibus
I hope it's not carbon tetrachloride either - anyone in the facility would instantly fall asleep! Old fire extinguishers for electrical fires used CTC.
Rob Hunter - Club Secretary
I've got my team scoping similar technologies at the moment. With these "autostore" type solutions, there are normally insurance restrictions on the type of products that can be held due to the fire risks inherent in a broadly inaccessible section of a building filled with battery powered robots and plastic storage containers. Some very clever innovative robotics and systems on the market at the moment though. The algorithms and systems logic behind them to drive shorter and shorter lead times to customers are very interesting to a supply chain geek like me 😂

Oh yes... and what sort of 'odours' could you possibly have that needed neutralising? It sounds 'fishy' to me...
