Worst/Most unsuitable car you ever drove?

Yep I'll go with the "most things Vauxhall" idea

Although I once brought new a Skoda Favoroti on a K plate. After 18 months and 25K miles I worked out that for every 14 days on the road it spent one off at the dealers having simple things fixed.

Things like the melted dashboard.

The headlining that kept falling off, covering you while driving.

The gearbox X 2.

Rear Hubs.

Wipers X infinity.

The list was endless.

Also had a very scary taxi ride in Poland, in a Diesel 309 complete with whip tail aerial and fake fur seat trims. All was well until we started driving down the tram track (on the rails), swerving through the 1 foot high privet separating hedge as we played chicken with the trams. :arse:

i remember thinking how crap the heater was on my first mini (71 k reg) , could never find where the draft was coming from.Until i tried fitting speakers in the black cardboardy type stuff either side of the speedo.and when i cut the hole on the drivers side i could see the osf wheel. The front bulkhead had rotted away to nothing.

Then i remember back in 1980 picking up a microwave oven (back in the days when a microwave was the size of a 32" tv) in a mercedes hearse. We did get some strange looks.Super fast cremations though!!!!

Honda Civic..... Eugh!!!!

My mother came around to baby sit this evening so I thought I'd see what her car was like instead of using mine.

Completely soul-less, boring & uncomfortable.

1. Anything with a Vauxhall badge! Glad to see I'm not alone!

2. Original Mini Automatic. (Walking is quicker)

3. The Dodge hired on honeymoon. Sierra size exterior, Escort size interior, Mini 850 performance, Challenger tank fuel economy though at a buck a gallon who cares , and shopping trolley with one dodgy wheel type handling!

Since then I have been back to the states and driven more of their err, cars  :t-up: ? and have yet to find a reasonable drive let alone a great one.

All the above pale into insignificance against my late unlamented Capri..............1300cc

Accelerated like a dream walk through treacle and rusted faster than an Alfasud.

Which lucky person got it? I bet he's one of the 'high ups' in GM.

Okay, there are some truly awful cars mentioned however I have waited to give you the nadir of motoring, anything made by FSO or polski fiat. I for my sins was promoted or punished and became the service manager for the largest dealership in England. These cars were produced from old fiat plans but made in poland and were sold at a loss to get sterling into what was still the eastern block. Warrentys were truly awful, but the factory never had a problem as the two year waiting list made them desirable and should you complain about them the men in grey suits took them off you so no complaints then. We sold hundreds of them and used to break brand new cars for spares as a new engine was more than the car cost. The worst part was who bought them, loads were bought on mobility by people who brought nearly new escorts and the like inexchange to enjoy that new car feeling. This was the feeling of anger as it broke down, the windows fell out,the gearbox 5th gear fell off, the brakes applied themselves and stopped the cars in the outside lanes of motorways. They then surpassed themselvels with an all new model the Polenza, styled by stevie wonder and ray charles it was a five door hatchback, the key feature of this was the built in guiloteen of a rear hatch if fitted with a spolier. This was purely fitted to balance you mug of tea on whilst fixing it,but had the effect of overwhelming the tailgate struts sending it murderously sycthing down on the already crippled owner where the latch cut into soft old tissue with the delicacy of Freddie Cruger. As we had to fix them we got to know all our customer really well and only the miners strike got me out of that company as it went bust( in dubious circumstance). The only other cars that came close for the sheer badness was the moskivitc and the wartbugh. The later was a two stroke car which had to be shook daily to mix the oil and petrol to get it to run, the former had an engine which was based on a BMW but bore no resemblance to one at all apart from the rocker box. I have truley worked on the worlds worst!
