Rob Hunter - Club Secretary
One for all you car buffs! I was at the Curburgring yesterday morning with some WSCC members and hidden amongst the myriad of classics in the car park was this beauty. I'm normally like a car encyclopaedia, but this had me stumped on exactly what it was (the make is obvious from the badge).... Took the power of Google for me to finally identify it 😂
Labrat
I'd hazard a guess at some sort of Elan but it doesn't look quite right. Possibly because its a +2, but even so the front looks wrong.
stephenh
Surely its too big for an Elan? The nose looks distinctly AC like, as in AC Ace or Aceca, or Cobra. So I'll chuck in AC Aceca as a guess.
Labrat
I know what you mean but it's hard to tell from the angle of the shot. The front looks AC but the rest still seems Elan to me if a bit stretched.
MR.C
The Black badge narrows it down considerably!

Possibly because its a +2, but even so the front looks wrong. I spent ages looking at it, thinking it was a version of the Elite! It is actually an Elan +2.... apparently the original design concept looked like this but Chapman didn't like it and had it redesigned. Someone then spent a lot of time and money recreating the concept front end for this car
Labrat
That explains why it looks wrong I am not sure I like the concept front as much as the final version though...
ianali
Same/similar colour to my old car.

Yes, I think Chapman was right but nice to see something a little different

jeff oakley
I overheard the chap who owned this at Shelsey Walsh probably 5 years ago. IIRC he bought this accident damaged without an engine so fitted a mazda engine and box and did the bodywork. Again a few years back but I recall he used some cobra wing part on it to get the shape. Regardless of how it looks it was flawless finish
Blatman
I think it looks much better than the production car. Definitely evokes the AC Ace and also another car from that era that I just can't think of right now, but Berlinetta is going around my head for some reason...
