Help!! Stealth Take Over

Recommended Posts

So I bought the Westie in January with my wife telling me I was nuts and she didn't understand why I wanted a car like "that".

Today she's taken it out by herself for the first time and now I find her studiously reading the new Westfield World that arrived today.

Aside from hiding her booster cushion so she can't reach the pedals what should I do?

Totally! The more she enjoys it, the more you are likely to 👍.

My dear lady was ‘not amused’ to put it mildly when I first suggested buying my old car back. I believe she might have said something like ‘why do you want a poncy little car like that’ 😂

We have reached a fairly amicable understanding now, and I hope that she will venture out in it at some point when I get it down to our house at the end of the month.

Now, whether I would let her drive it or not is a totally different matter!! I would be a bag of nerves! 😱😂

Mine loved driving 'our' Westie on track but wasn't keen to drive it on road.

I found it easier to watch from a distance.

I'm thankful my other half isn't a real car person. As my car has been built to suit me at 6'3", at a slightly less 5'7", she can't reach the pedals.

I'm pretty sure I'd have a heart attack from the stress of watching her drive it.

@DIY-Si hate to tell you this. I'm 6'4" and my wife is about 5'8". She just uses a lumbar support cushion to push her forward enough to reach the pedals. I can get details of the cushion if you want or you can pay me to keep it secret 😉

I'm lucky, my wife is a complete petrol head. Has been driving since she was about 10. Learnt to drive (legally) in a Capri so understands rear wheel drive. So I've no worry about the safety of the Westy, my concern involves more around possession of it.

Ah, that makes a big difference! Mrs Stu has never driven a rear wheel drive car.....

I reckon I'd still be safe, my bench seat means that a big enough cushion would have her sat with about half her bum off the bottom bit of the seat! 🤣

Report her for taking it without consent and enjoy the laughter when you get the call from the police.

In preparation for completing the build of the missus’ Westy I treated her to a day at London Rally School to introduce her to the joys of RWD, her only driving experience previously being a parade of FWD offerings.

We had to buy a booster cushion for the Marcos though  :)

I'm sure my wife will have one quick go (under supervision 😬) in the XI.

She often enjoyed driving my Lotus Elise to work although it did attract comments from her colleagues...!
