Glen_I
Evening all This is one of my last minute.com bright ideas so not even sure if it's viable.....here goes anyway though! Is/would it be possible if 2 people have spare seats for each of my 2 children to sit in on the parade lap. Ones 9 and the other is 13 and they don't say much so no need to worry about loads of chat🤣 Having never been to the Classic I'm not sure how it all works but if this is possible this would be great as 'Dads Westfield' is still in a million pieces scattered across the garage floor. 🙈 Cheers
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO
I think you may find a minimum age limit of 16 Happy to be proved wrong
Glen_I
That's that problem solved then.....🤣
Captain Colonial
From their website: “6.3. Passengers are allowed to take part in parades but the number of people in any car must not exceed the number of seats fitted to the car and all must be in possession of an Event ticket. All passengers must be seated in the seats provided and safety belts must be used. Passengers under 18 must have the signed approval of their parent or guardian to participate in a track parade. Passengers in Touring Cars, or Cabriolet/Sports Cars with the hood erected or hardtop fitted, must be 12 years or over and be at least 135cm in height. Passengers in Cabriolet/Sports Cars without the hood erected or hardtop fitted must be aged 16 years or over and be at least 135cm in height. No child under 12 years is allowed to be a passenger. This is subject to change at the discretion of Motorsport UK.” So possible for the 13 year-old if someone drives with the top fitted, but I’m afraid it’s a no for your nine year-old. Glen_I
Thanks for that info @Scott Young (Captain Colonial) - Club Secretary Much appreciated. Oh well kids...I tried. The simple solution would be for me to pull my finger out and get my one finished 😉
Captain Colonial
Or get fake IDs for the kids 😄
Glen_I
Don't put ideas in their heads! The eldest went into town last week with a friend and my last words were 'do something constructive and don't hang around McDonald's with the other oiks'. My wife found her in weatherspoons albeit drinking coke with a bowl of chips. She said dad said don't hang around McDonald's so we came here instead. (Turned around on me!!!) So she has walked into a Weatherspoons ordered a drink and chips and sat down and no one questioned her?? Fair play to her I suppose....I wouldn't have had the balls when I was 13🤣
Robin Parker (Red Spider) - Yorkshire AO
She might have had the Wetherspoon app, no need to go to the bar.

Greenstreak-Andy D
Did you get above 20mph? Looks like pace car was short of fuel! 😝

Looks like pace car was short of fuel! 😝 It was STRICTLY limited to 40mph, although it looks slower! It was nice to be out in front of everyone else though, means we got a full lap with no queueing at the end. We had to go single file around the outside at Luffield because one of the Bentleys from the previous race dumped a load of oil on the inside line where it broke down. The official coverage managed to comprehensively miss us, both on camera and in commentary, just catching the last three cars in our group for a few seconds. (Go to 3:45:04 to be properly annoyed.)

Looks like pace car was short of fuel! 😝 Its part of the restrictions that allow people to go round with no helmets or safety gear, and limited opportunities for the older children of members to take part. if you’re wondering why you’ll see a couple of cars with roofs up, but not doors, it’s because we were strictly adhering to the rules for children; under 16 are not allowed in open top cars, but can go in convertibles with the roofs up. No one has so far considered cars like ours don’t have a proper door! (And children have to be over 12 years old to go out in any car.) The parade lap marshal team were perfectly happy with our compliance!
Glen_I
Having just walked back through our front door we all really enjoyed the weekend after arriving Thursday evening. Having never been before I wasn't sure what to expect. I generally go to Goodwoood FOS each year but I think I will do Silverstone again next year (each venue is approx 1 hr away). The kids really seemed to enjoy themselves and the highlight to end the weekend was hanging around in the main paddock/pits whilst everything is going on. Didn't actually realise we could get that close and whilst the kids weren't allowed my wife and myself were able to stand on the pit lane wall whilst the F1 cars done their bit. I did head to the Westfield Club stand twice but never managed to catch anyone.
