But it’s still not a great idea unless you’re willing to put yourself through the process of officially and legally restoring its correct identity. That cost and time to do that - IF you can do that, something that the demise of WSC Ltd has just been made infinitely more difficult - should be factored into the cost and ultimate value of the car. Personally, I wouldn’t touch it. Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 If you look at their "Lotus Super Seven" stocklist Here you'll see they have named all sorts as Lotus Sevens: a Lotus 6 lookalike with a Dax rollbar, Robin Hood, Westfields, the site smells of ignorance at least. Quote
GGWest Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 To me the biggest clue is the transmission tunnel. It has a flat top with a handbrake. Lotus Sevens had a rounded top to the transmission tunnel, as Caterham still do, and the handbrake was under the dash, I think until the S4. Front upper wishbone used the anti-roll bar as the forward link. Other parts that don't look correct for an series 2 are rear lights, nosecone and front indicators, windscreen pillar. I'm sure some of the Lotus forums could help. Quote
erik.b Posted August 21, 2022 Author Posted August 21, 2022 Appreciate the feedback, so basically it's a frankenstein 😜 i'll be moving on, plenty good Westfields around at half the price, i'll find my match soon enough. thanks. 1 Quote

In the UK, it has happened in the past that the UK authority responsible for the registration of new cars, kit cars etc, has decided the identity of a car has been "lost" by the owners actions, and it's number plates, chassis number etc have been revoked, with the cars ending up being removed from the road, (typically being broken up for parts rather than being outright scrapped). And that's in the UK, where we allow the registration of kit cars fairly easily! (IVA test etc) Quote

Mark Stanton Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 Westfield pre-lit definitely (probably late 87) ................. registered incorrectly as a Lotus 7 ............. The paperwork to re-register it correctly would be frightening, if not impossible. 1 Quote
