Hi everybody,

time has come to introduce myself. I'm Pierre, french guy, 51 year old, living in north of France.

In may this year an opportunity to buy a Westfield came to me, and so I did.

It's a factory built ZEI 1800 first reg 1999. Not over powered (118bhp), but a nice example to start with. Full stock, red, underslung exhaust, only 19000 miles from new!

First question : how can I share pictures here?

the last past months I gave it a good overhaul, changing sensors, timing belt, new exhaust, new ignition coil and plugs, new fuel filter, air filter cleaned up, etc... car is running fine but still got same problem since I own it : ignition cuts randomly. Everytime engine starts again so I never had to pull over, although I'm still trying to find out and running out of ideas...

In the meantime I started to go into the IVA process here in France. I read here in another thread that ZEI were made to get European approval type, so I hope that'll be not that tricky!

Cheers,

Pierre.

Welcome Pierre.

As a free trial member you cannot post images.

But once you become a full (paid) member, then adding images to your posts becomes very easy!

Welcome Pierre!

Electrical issues like yours can be tricky to find. I had a similar issue (weber40 / xflow) where it would randomly cut out on me and after much head scratching it turned out that there was a bad joint on the ignition barrel and if I knocked the wire with my knee, it was as if I'd turned the key off!

[Edit] No technical questions in here of course 😄 Just sharing my experience

Hi,

thanks for your welcoming.

ci_newman, yes you're right, sharing experience is good sometimes 😊 , and I'll give a try to what you wrote.

My bad, I confess, only realised after posting that I already bent the basic rules. If the issue was to last, I'll create another thread in the appropriate area.

Cheers,

Pierre.
