Insurance on a Zetec Blacktop Supercharged!!

Trying to get insurance on the Zetec Westfield but struggling as A Plan are asking if the car has an immobilizer!!??

Any ideas anyone and has the supercharger been a problem as a policy was offered but only with security fitted and they are checking if the supercharger output is going to mess up the insurance as originally I didn't quote output!?

Highway is the only company offered but I may be looking around for other insurance companies after spending over 1 hour 40 mins without going out into the sunny weather!

Any advice on other experiences?

Try Classicline , I've found them very accommodating, and offer build in Track Day cover if that's a consideration (unlimited for WSCC organised events)

A Plan had no issues with the supercharged S2000 conversion, and were fine when I removed the listing for the immobiliser. (It still has an immobiliser, but as it made no difference to cost, it was much more straightforward to not have it listed on the policy)

Be aware that the WSCC does NOT organise any Trackdays, though we do piggy back on to track days organised by others. (Blyton, for instance).

We also have a few AO's that are great at organising private trackdays for other members, but again, these are not WSCC organised events. (I'd hate anyone to come a cropper insurance wise, through a misunderstanding)

Thanks...I'm waiting for a call back but I didn't even mention track days as I just want to be legal!

I had an accident just over 4 years ago and the immobilizer is now the issue, so might need a little help 🤔

Thanks for this information Dave,

Only company that was offered to me was Highway thru A Plan, so hoping to go with this company?

I have used Highway before but still waiting for a call if they still want to honour the original quote? But only if an immobilizer is fitted!

Now there's the problem 😳

@Iplodius Have you tried Footman James?

Is this @A-Plan Insurance THATCHAM ?  Make sure it is the Thatcham brand, and not your local one.

I can also recommend @AIB Insurance for the Westfield.

Thanks for the advice everyone…have got a policy with Adrian Flux now…and all done in 25mins or so :)
I tried the Thatcham branch of A Plan, but in the end the price was some what higher with £250 excess …but it took almost 2 hours as the supercharger, the immobizer and maybe my accident was a problem it seemed?

Will keep Footman James for next year quote maybe?…did originally think about this company but so impressed how easy I got the policy for a car I thought it was going to take hours on the phone to insure!

Cheers everyone … 🙂

Thanks, I had the phone number on my mobile already as I got a cheap quote before, I did check at the Falcon Meet for advice on A Plan.

Have to pay £15 extra to get a guaranteed Valuation …needed on this car!
Thanks again…

OK, hopefully you'll try us next year and we can be more competitive for you :)

Not sure what you mean about the £15 as we don't charge for agreed valuation?
