Nick.Petty Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 My Norton Anti virus has made me aware of some dodgy trojan horse called Backdoor Blarul but it can't get rid of it! Apparently it is something to do with edonkey and is a 'forced upload program' ?? Whoever the pervs are they will be sorely dissapointed as all they will get are Excel spreadsheets of Westy bits and pieces! However, does anyone know how to get rid of the thing? TIA. Nick. Quote
darthurs Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 Go to the www.symantec.com website and download the removal tool for it. If you click in "Downloads" then "Virus Removal Tools". There should be a list of tools to download. Find the correct one and follow the destructions. Dan Quote
Nick.Petty Posted February 24, 2004 Author Posted February 24, 2004 There is not a removal tool for it on Symantec - lots for similar named 'backdoor' virus's (sounds like summat you pick up in a GAYBAR). Plus the fact that my Norton has identified it but can't destroy it, I wonder whether it is possible to destroy it at all?? Quote
adhawkins Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 According to Sophos, all you can do is delete the 'infected' files. Andy Quote
darthurs Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 If you stick "Backdoor Blarul" into google then you will get some info back on it. Dan Quote
adhawkins Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 That's funny, that's exactly what I did Andy Quote
